If you love apples, try a Goldrush ๐
What a million dollar view of the mountainside. You’re blessed abundantly.
Do you have any information on Paw Paw trees? They are a native tree in southern Ontario, and I have not been able to grow fruit consistently, due to pollinating issues. I would appreciate any advise.
Iโm interested in trying apple cordons. I know those require spur-bearing varieties, but I canโt find a good resource for a list of spur-bearing varieties. Itโs even difficult to find that info for a specific variety at times. Do you know of any resources where I can find that?
I’m still trying to figure out why my apple trees and peach tree will flower, but I have 3 cherry trees that wont even flower and goes straight to leafing out. I’m stumped. All those trees were planted 3 yrs ago at the same time and in the same area of my property. Zone 5, central Iowa. Any ideas? I know they will take a while produce fruit, but, they should at least flower.
Sounds like I need a crabapple tree, is there a variety that grows well in south texas that has fruit also? What is better about white flower over pink?
Love them curls!!!…๐๐๐
Thank you so much Melissa! We’ve been talking about putting in some fruit trees for years but have never done it because of lack of knowledge. This year’s the year!
I have a dwarf pear trees … two of them … in upper midwest … what kind of pear tree would be good to plant near them?
Awesome video with a lot of good info
How much do apples and pears sell for?
Who buys them?
I am wanting to put in some fruit trees this year. Our ground is so rocky we can’t dig in it so have put in raised beds for the garden. I am thinking of doing the same thing for some dwarf trees. How far apart do you think I should plant them.
Just ordered your book, and it’ll be here in the next few days; apparently your book is essential.

Very helpful, getting ready to plant some apple trees
Well done Melissa, great explanations on what could be a very confusing topic.
Great info, especially on needing 2 different varieties. The lady at the nursery told us you need 2 pawpaw trees to produce fruit. She forget to mention 2 different pawpaw trees, found out later and by then they were sold out. Still waiting for them to come in this year. I did get 2 fruit cocktail trees this year, one with plums and peaches and the other different varieties of apples.
I just started my mini orchard. Have an apple tree and rainier cherry tree (which I’m soooooo excited for). I love that you are in the NW.
How do you keep deer from eating your orchard?
So much info I didnโt know, you are an amazing person. Iโm glad you decided to share your knowledge, in my eyes youโre a savior.
Thank you!
Great video, Thank you!
I also live in Washington state and we are curious about starting an orchard on our property. Where did you purchase your fruit trees ? Local or online ?
I love my fruit trees and they are just beginning to fruit
We moved into a property that has two apple trees. They have not given me fruit that I can use to identify the variety. But I want to make sure they can cross pollinate, and buy another one this spring if needed. How can I find out what variety they are? Also, we have a crab apple about an acre away. Is that close enough to pollinate?
Very informative. Thank you, Melissa! <3
Wonderful information!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐
Thanks. I absolutely appreciate the video and information. Pammie from Chicago Illinois
Great advice ๐
I started a mini orchard last year. Plan on adding more fruit trees. I pruned them for the 1st time and that was successful because I watched your video on pruning. Thanks for all the great infomation .
I want to buy your manual. Could send the link for purchase? Thank you.
This was perfect for me Melissa – I am going back to re-read that section in your book so that I can take care of my blueberry and 2 elderberries until we are able to build and move to new home. GREAT video with well laid out information ๐
