What Garden Seeds to Plant in Western Oregon around May 1st.
Right around May 1st is the transition point between planting cool-season crops such as leafy greens, brassicas (broccoli, kale, cabbage), and root vegetables to the Warm-season crops such as corn, beans, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, melons, peppers and so on.
IMHO it is too late by May 1st to be seeding the following crops at this point: Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, broccoli, cauliflower. If you gardening on a smaller scale and you want to grow them, then I would reccomend acquiring them as starts from a local farm.

This year we planted corn seed early June, no problem, but the cucumber and zucchini , squash, etc did not jerminate, so, thank you , it’s good to know now as to what happened…..lot’s of rain this year, it’s mid June and I thank I’ll try some more seed. Corn is doing great! Poor tomatoes have had a rough go of it, but they are finally taking off her in mid June …got slugs ? Slug bait , but rain will wash it away , so you’ll need to re broadcast
