Why bother using tyres at all? The toxins will leach into the surrounding ground.

Excellent tour mate. Please could you do a video about your Solar Tunnel? So far there is only one source in Surrey selling it and there isn’t much information on YouTube or internet about it (not in English). I know you had it for years and it also looks like you have recently changed the cover? Please consider this request. Many Thanks, Vinny

Hi Huw, from Chile , South America, here. Those Shetland black potatoes called my attention. Here in Chile, down South, there is an island called Chiloé. It is famous for its coloured potatoes. Really about 8 different colours and flavours of potatoes, including a black potatoes variety. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. 🌹

I learned from one gardener (I think James P) that birds mainly like berries for the water, so he did two things: put out bird baths and painted some red rocks which he placed out a month or so before the berries developed so the birds β€œlearned” that the berries wouldn’t give them water and then they left the berries alone once they came along

I grew Shetland black a few years back and it was a great experiment for some cool spuds, but to be honest, I won’t be doing it again. In Ireland blight is a big issue for this variety

What stores would you recommend to buy seeds? My husband and I are looking into buying a house and I’m very keen to start with a vegetable garden, but I moved from Sweden to the UK last year, and spent like half a year in lockdown so I haven’t had the chance to figure out where to get everything haha… πŸ™

Huw, I love what you’re doing and can’t get enough from youre videos. Small question I live in Belgium and whatever I start sowing inside now to transfer mid march is going leggy. Any tips on what time of the year would be a good time to sow seeds indoors?? Although I am doing this on the right side where the sun hits most of the day. But ya am sure youre familiar with cloudy climates at this part of the world. Any help plz so I don’t waste time and be ready before it’s too late? Tons of thanks

You have great channel going, keep up the great work! Quick question Huw, what ratio of compost to soil should I use for a garden planter bed?

Thank you for making this video showing us what you are growing in your garden and so many different things perfect and the video you just made had a nice lady giving great advice on how to grow one plant with another to help keep bugs away great thinking my friend I used chilli to grow in between keep bugs away and I just add chpped up chilli to water in a spray bottle and all bugs go away from anything I spray it on and I use bicarbonate of soda in a sprwy bottle for any mold or mildew build up around the place. Chilli flakes only cost a few dollars and add 2 or 3 tablespoons to a big container of water wait 24 hours the whole bin or whatever you use for watering and spray bottles to be refilled with over time and water anywhere you are having trouble like the carrots and they will never return. Everything hate chilli my friend take care and stay safe and keep up the great work God bless you and your family and friends peace be with you all.

Your garden is beautiful! What do you do with all the produce? Is it strictly for your family, sold at a market or…? I’d love to have such a large garden but I’d drown in so many vegetables!

All my radish bolted, but then again I didn’t water them and we had two months of sweltering heat and no rain.
Sacrificed for tomatoes, the choices you have to make when a few rainbarrels are all the water you got.

I’m curious as to why you are growing hostas in your veg garden. There must be a beneficial reason. Do tell!

  48. alice coppers on May 28, 2022 at 9:01 pm

why don’t u use the white fabric over the beans for moles? they hate getting stuck with their claws.

  49. Molly Phemister on May 28, 2022 at 9:02 pm

I have had my greatest flea beetle struggles when I’ve had too much N rich compost in a bed for the crop in question to handle. You mentioned that it was drier than usual and that you were associating the intensity of the flea beetles with the drier conditions. Given the ease with which N will wash out of a bed in high rain seasons, you might be seeing a variant of what I was seeing: maybe your N is staying put and thus there’s more of it / too much of it for that particular crop.

Hi there, In one of your videos you mentioned some big troubles with Voles and how you were dealing with them. There was the stake thing that is supposed to be a deterrent. Wonder if it was effective? I planted a new bed of seedlings and keep stomping down the vermin trail and hoping they don’t ruin my seedling efforts. Thanks for any input. Happy gardening!:)
