I thought this was a grow video for some weed smh lol

  2. MEL on July 17, 2022 at 10:21 pm

Sorry dude, the light has stated 8 x 54w on it’s label, not 20w as you stated which is a total of 432w…..not 160w. Using 2 like you have is a total of 864w. That’s like having an electric kettle running 24/7. Just letting you know

  3. Valli S on July 17, 2022 at 10:22 pm

2 questions~ How warm should the room be? AND, how high above the plants should be lights be?

  4. Michele Stout on July 17, 2022 at 10:24 pm

    ❤️

  5. Epicurus on July 17, 2022 at 10:28 pm

Thank you for all your videos!

Are you sure the cost of operation of this rig is 10-15 cents per day?

If 16 bulbs consuming 20W are on for 12 hours per day, total daily consumption is 3.84kWh.

The utility rate would have to be less than $0.04/kWh to operate so cheaply. The lowest utility rate most North Americans will see is about $0.10/kWh which will be 38 cents per day for these lights.

Got a small one in our back room where we grow some lettuce, but are looking for some expansion. We had an funky colored LED one to try but upon reading some of those lights can damage your eyes. As always thank you for sharing and education. Best wishes From Missouri.

  7. Claudia Smith on July 17, 2022 at 10:29 pm

Luke, does the basement need to be at a specific temperature?
Also, in the video you said you would provide a link to the lights. I am not seeing any links.
    Thank you

I remember once you had masterclass, or something, on your site… could you fill me in on that? if it’s still up or not? Thank you 🙏

  9. Keith Croshaw on July 17, 2022 at 10:31 pm

Neglected my garden through the late summer and fall… Now it’s too late and I miss it… Too bad you can’t grow everything in a cool basement without thousands of dollars worth of equipment and fertilizers.

  10. Ryan Chevillet on July 17, 2022 at 10:31 pm

54w per bulb and those lights are not effective as led…. thats way outdated way of lighting..

  11. Donna Barthau on July 17, 2022 at 10:32 pm

Your link for the growlight says they are out of stock and they don’t know if they will get any more….any other suggestions?

  12. Charlie Hoos on July 17, 2022 at 10:33 pm

Thank you. I’m growing herbs over winter with my grow lights.

    Very nice indeed!

  14. Holly Holly on July 17, 2022 at 10:34 pm

Fantastic video. Can you grow chamomile indoors?

  15. sn232 on July 17, 2022 at 10:34 pm

The idea of a pond liner lining a box is a great idea, might try that with some old dresser drawers I was going to cut up for another use. I am successfully growing:
Dwarf Micro tomatoes in Aerogarden Harvest and they are 1 year old and still producing fruit continuously and abundantly (2 plants in the Aerogarden, water daily, feed every other week).
Basil grew in it 700+ days until I decided to try growing something new.
I have seen many people growing cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, lettuces, and other things like radish, herbs, artichokes, flowers, succulents in their Aerogardens successfully. I don’t know why your cucumbers didn’t grow well under those lights, maybe pollination issue? Thanks for another great video 🙂

Hey will this system work with LED bulbs? Thank you

  17. 47retta on July 17, 2022 at 10:35 pm

I was thinking it would be good in warmer areas like S Florida where everything starts bolting in the spring when the days lengthen and it gets warmer. Just move plants indoors where i have ac and can control the light.

  18. axel morales on July 17, 2022 at 10:36 pm

Hyped for the hydro 🙂 amazing setup

  19. Kimberly Scott on July 17, 2022 at 10:37 pm

How far away from plants should the grow light be hung? Does this change as the plants grow taller? How does a heating mat factor into an indoor growing set up? I have sooo many questions! I’m a Michigander and am a beginner at gardening and growing plants from seed. Your videos are so friendly and informative! Thank you for sharing your gift and knowledge for growing in a way that is not intimidating but instead, welcoming and encouraging.

When it was hydroponic did you do floating raft?

  21. Chambalero on July 17, 2022 at 10:37 pm

Luke, you have gotten more handsome. Just saying.

  22. Tony Fucho on July 17, 2022 at 10:37 pm

Sadly wood constructions are no longer viable for the every man in 2021, going into 2022. Cheap chinese polymers are all much cheaper, which people will buy, not knowing how deadly it is

  23. yurimodin on July 17, 2022 at 10:37 pm

dude its legal now, you can show us the "tomatoes" 😉

  24. Tom Crosman on July 17, 2022 at 10:39 pm

Those lights are ridiculously expensive. That said it is no longer a simple home setup. How many veges can I buy for $1000+ dollars for each grow light. OMG.

  25. Theresa M on July 17, 2022 at 10:40 pm

    No link for lights. 🙁

  26. Crystal 72 on July 17, 2022 at 10:40 pm

Fabulous information. You are super helpful. I appreciate you. I am gathering information on growing indoors. Thank you for keeping your videos positive I appreciate that too.

    Very cool!

  28. Daniel Eastman on July 17, 2022 at 10:47 pm

I definitely have the room for an indoor garden. I’m doing some kale, arugula, and lettuce starts that I want to try in a mini greenhouse outside or using milk jugs and bottles. The problem is while the Pacific North West has very mild winters and the snow might stick only a couple times and usually it hovers close to freezing and not below, it really is cloudy almost the entire time. So, the plants may not do so well.

  29. Sandy P on July 17, 2022 at 10:47 pm

I have a small house with no basement. Maybe I could do one in my dining room on the buffet. It will take some tinkering and shuffling things around but maybe….

  30. Drew's Enthused on July 17, 2022 at 10:48 pm

Are the soil gnats out of control?

  31. Tim Clark on July 17, 2022 at 10:48 pm

I have 2 poinsettias under 8 led lights on a WiFi timer. The leaves on one seem a bit small and I have lost a few so I increased the time on from 10 to 12 hours. Another convenience is to use watering spikes.

  32. Ramona Surprenant on July 17, 2022 at 10:48 pm

On my gosh! I needed this today! We were just talking about how we were going to ramp up our plant-starting production this winter. (We’d been using the small, individual lights, but it’s time to get serious:) ) Thanks!

  33. Random Person on July 17, 2022 at 10:49 pm

Would love to know how you handle pests! Every time I bring plants in from outdoors for the winter I get fungus gnats, aphids, etc. Tried traps, spinosid, neem oil and cake with only limited success.

  34. James Barisitz on July 17, 2022 at 10:50 pm

    A thorough tutorial. Nice! ✌

  35. xxXHikariXx on July 17, 2022 at 10:50 pm

  36. Altitude Is Everything on July 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Please add the link to the grow light. I’m desperate for a recommendation from someone I trust!

  37. Greg Gasiorowski on July 17, 2022 at 10:54 pm

No reason to use fluorescent lights anymore, LEDs are so low cost & more efficient now largely driven by the weed market.

  38. justin omar on July 17, 2022 at 10:54 pm

240 watts lol for herbs one maxisun 100 watt would do just as good if not better

  39. Garn Wanner on July 17, 2022 at 10:57 pm

I use SHINESTAR 4-Pack 4FT LED Shop Lights Daylight 5000K, 40W 5500 Lumen Bright T8 LED Tube Light, Linkable Integrated Lighting Fixture. Purchased from Amazon for $50 for 4 bulbs. They work great for Grow Lights. Each light can be used seperatly or linked together.

  40. Terra Chic on July 17, 2022 at 10:57 pm

I would love to set up a small indoor garden area it would be fun

  41. Take It Slow Homestead on July 17, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Thanks! That answered a lot of my questions about growing plants indoors during the winter.

  42. kim94503 on July 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Oh gosh I’m going to do this!

  43. Colby Kinney on July 17, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Lumens are for humans, it how we see light. Light for plants is measured with PAR.. photosynthetic active radiation.

  44. T Hall on July 17, 2022 at 11:07 pm

The soil doesn’t dry out like it does outside… Yeah you severely overestimate my ability to remember to water things.

  45. KC on July 17, 2022 at 11:10 pm

Still looking for the links to the recommended lights that you said would be in the description. Thanks

  46. Hannah Michael on July 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

Would lettuce do well in this type of setup?

  47. SWEET SAVORY WORDS on July 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

What kind of light should I get to grow tomatoes and peppers?

  48. Darren Walker on July 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

    Perfect timing! Thank you Luke!

  49. Carole Monette on July 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

I think we are going to need to do more of this type of gardening with the food shortages.

  50. Ramona Surprenant on July 17, 2022 at 11:20 pm

Is there a link to buy the lights?
