I’m from the Philippines and your videos are so helpful! I’m now growing pechay, beans, basil, lettuce, marigolds, chili peppers! I mix my own seeding mix and the popular here is cocopeat and worm casting combined. Kudos to your videos!🤩😍

  7. Martin Mercer Jr on November 17, 2021 at 1:10 pm

I started two to three weeks ago pepper seeds in my garage, I only had a light on it. But my garage was still too cold. And I have a automatic water tray , where you filled up the bottom of the trays and there a small soaked up pad. I think I put too water and my garage was too cold. So I bought a seedling system with a light and heating mat. My question is, is it too late for my peppers to grow, should I start over with them

on my hubby’s account, but I am starting a garden this spring. My seedlings are looking pretty good and my peppers sprouted so I’m happy! This will be my first garden.

  19. Tess Forrester on November 17, 2021 at 1:26 pm

Clamp light: 2” from plants. On 16 hrs/day. Can use a timer for on/off. Bulb should have lumens 1500-3000, Kelvin 4500-6500 to mimic daylight.

Frustrated. Beautiful. Too over my head, I need a complete instruction A-Z.

  21. It’s Private on November 17, 2021 at 1:27 pm

Also if your seeds are not growing well and stall at one inch then you’re buying low quality seeds! People sometimes think all seeds are the same and buy the cheap .50 seeds! Make sure You go on amazon and read reviews first, if you’re buying in store download a QR reader app on your phone and then scan the UPC code of the seed packet and it will pull it up on the Internet usually on Amazon and You can read the reviews! I’ve found that seeds are usually double the price on Amazon unless you’re buying in bulk

love your video had trouble growing with the pellets but im going to try it again. what does it mean when you get mold on the pots. I was watering them on the top. Could that be why. Also, is there a special water I should use on them. 🙂 Thank you.

  38. Joyce Desotel on November 17, 2021 at 1:50 pm

I want to start a few plants only. Peppers, green beans , squash. What do I start these seeds in? And don’t growlights at Lowes have the correct lumens? I sleep 9 hours a day. What happens if the lights are on 15 hours only. Do you discourage seeds growing in a South exposure? Can you tell this is a new endeavor for me? I loved your blog. Thanks for the tips

My onions and lettuce are very long and leggy. What am I doing wrong?

  41. joseph Norcal USA #1 on November 17, 2021 at 1:52 pm

    Helpful information, thank you !

  42. It’s Private on November 17, 2021 at 1:52 pm

If it’s already too hot for You to grow lettuce they grow very well in an aerogarden or you can get something that works just like the aerogarden for much cheaper on amazon, many different brands that come with nutrient solution and everything you need but water and seed! I got the 12 pod IDOO brand from amazon, a 12 pod aerogarden is $248 and up but I paid $75 for mine and it came with the nutrients, 12 pods, 24 sponges for the seeds to grow in and it’s also the tallest one I could find on amazon and it has a fan for pollination!! Just search hydroponic system on amazon and you’ll see tons of them and check amazon warehouse if you don’t have much money because I seen on there for $38!! If you’re someone who can’t grow things well and kill everything you touch then one of these systems will be your best friend! My plants grow 5X faster in this system too! Oh and if you get the IDOO 12 pod system then Aerogarden pods will fit it so if you really want it to be easy just get those and put them in and add nutrients and you are good to go!!

  43. Laura W. on November 17, 2021 at 1:56 pm

I ordered Peat pellets. As you suggested, and they got green Mossey/mold growth along the top of the peat pellets they are growing in. They are inside a seedling grow light box I made from this video. I leave the lightbox cracked open and was wondering how to avoid the green algae stuff that has grown on top of the Peat pellets – as they grow indoors under the lights? THANK YOU KIM

  44. Robert Shorthill on November 17, 2021 at 1:57 pm

Hi Kim, I’ve been using those 24oz cottage cheese containers for years. We save them all winter, so when it’s time transplant squash, toms and peppers, I melt about 5 holes in the bottom with a heated nail and fill the pot with a good potting mix. Place my little baby seeds into a hole in the p mix. I place the pots in a tray of water for about 20 minutes, take them out and don’t mess with them again for about a week. They are starting to get nice tough leaves growing under my lights (6500K fluorescent tubes, 12 hours on, 12 hours off.) Today, being it’s cloudy and 72, I’ll put my biggest toms outdoors for about 45 minutes or a bit longer. They can get some fresh air too. I’m planning on their summer homes about the end of May, as well as squash, which I will seed toward the end of this month April. Being that the roots are still small, there should be little, if any transplant shock, and they should take off after being "hardened off" for a week or ten days. That’s my method. BTW — I hate those peet pots — they can get moldy. I use homemade newspaper cylinders filled with starter soil. The roots grow right through the paper

  45. The Simple Life of CC on November 17, 2021 at 1:58 pm

Thank you for the info! I am starting Bibb lettuce inside, although I put too many seeds in each section (used egg carton). I’ll have to thin them I imagine. Any suggestions on how to thin them?

  46. gary larson on November 17, 2021 at 1:59 pm

heating pad is wonderful, almost 90% germination , potting mix with 20% coco , and leds after germination

  47. Luz Gallardo on November 17, 2021 at 1:59 pm

My bushpickle, roma, hot peppers and sugar baby sprouted!! Should i take them off the heat mat now? I have them in a grow light box like yours.. Please advice. And thank you for your videos!!! So motivating and inspirational 🌱💙

  48. Mario Vercillo on November 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm

Lady, with all due respect, if this is for beginners, I’m not spending money on peat pods and special lamps with lumens, etc. Just give me the bare, bare, bare basics for beginners, if its successful and I enjoy it and things are working, ya maybe I’ll invest $ in some equipment. I just want some ma or pa in their house with no agenda, trying to push sales of their seed collection, or buy special nursery seed potting soil that probably costs $15 a bag

  49. Eugenie Fung on November 17, 2021 at 2:01 pm

Well dang, I already messed up with #1 and #2. Will I still have hope for my seeds?

  50. JoEllen Paull on November 17, 2021 at 2:01 pm

life hack… place a nonbleached coffee filter in the bottom of your pot. it allows for drainage and keeps the soil from leaking out.
