I always harvest, rinse, tap dry on paper gels, remove all stems & spread out on paper towels in the microwave set at 30 sec intervals. Once dry I grind them up in a coffee grinder I use exclusively for herbs & spices & clean with a soft bristle brush between different herbs. I store them in glass jars with a firm seal to keep out moisture.

Seems like they could have made that Stack It about half of the height that it is. No need for all that wasted height between the mesh trays.

Heard mention smoke from regional fires.

Take it easy, nature disasters cause brain fog even for urban dwellers but you all plus cats have innate automatic shared life with forest life as into plant care work.

Recommend Rehmannia 8, one without talc and ingredients that match pet dosage brand on Amazon. Also suggest taking a genetic test Living DNA, can upload results to free health genetic analyzers . . .see if inclined to high blood pressure. Feels like stress. I noticed that runs in my family after looking at death certificates 80 years back. . .lots of Southeast English. Can take Asian traditional formulas, am convert as helped save my cat and have had Austrian Alpine health teas which is similar to Asian ancient healing beliefs. Have lots of Ancient Hungary and north Finland, Siberian so a little easier for me to accept, commit to Eastern experiences with such simple medicine. Also Kennewick Man shared DNA, ancient Washington probably via Siberian lines as no AmerIndian. Best wishes.

Need to trust research that supports prescribed burning intelligently for old growth. Got judged in the south by post Civil War naturalists but common to Europe to balance methods. Only S. America is where soil does not benefit.

Seven Flower for high blood pressure, gentle aid, but have to buy blood pressure cuff to get dosage amounts

Hi was wondering if we should wash the herbs before drying them.

  10. Kellie Jackson on May 16, 2022 at 7:52 pm

How will you use the stevia? Is this the same sugar substitute you can buy? I’ve often wondered if it comes from a plant why is it white?

By the way, the Miscanthus looks way better staked.😊

  11. Barbara Hogan on May 16, 2022 at 7:52 pm

CILANTRO TIP: I also don’t care much for dried cilantro, but last year tried chopping fresh cilantro leaves and mixing them into a stick of softened butter. I put it into a quart sized freezer zip lock bag, spread out flat and evenly thin. Then, all winter long when I make tacos or chicken tortillia soup I open the zip lock and break off a chunk. SUPER EASY and works just like fresh. I used up last year’s bags too fast and was so sad. This year I’ve stocked up. I do the same with scallions (so they never go bad in the fridge), chives, thyme, sage and basil now. Makes cooking super fast and simple.

  19. Lisbet Soda on May 16, 2022 at 7:59 pm

I don’t understand why Laura has to do it all. Why isn’t there someone to handle the video for her?

  20. Carolyn Miller on May 16, 2022 at 8:00 pm

In drying herbs, check our Living off grid with Doug and Stacy. Stacy is very knowledgeable on drying herbs. They live off grid and grow 90% of all their food. Hope this helps.

I just want to thank you for all the learning you share. I have learned so much since I came a cross with your channel. Keep up the good work.

  23. Tammy Colvin on May 16, 2022 at 8:01 pm

    are the cabarets fast growing

  24. Lady Thyme on May 16, 2022 at 8:02 pm

The drying bag works great if you have somewhere protected to hang it. Also if you have a fan on low in the area of it to promote more air circulation they dry faster… I still so love that path way you built out of planks ..it so enchanting

  25. Sharon Thrasher on May 16, 2022 at 8:03 pm

Do you ever use the dehydrator for herbs? Love Love your channel.

  26. Sara Quigley on May 16, 2022 at 8:03 pm

A tip: when you cut your grasses back in the Fall, don’t cut them too short, that way this year’s remainder will become next years stiff old grass which should provide some support to next years grasses. (I’ve learned this over time with my own sagging grasses on Cape Cod.)

  27. JoAnn Pilgrim on May 16, 2022 at 8:05 pm

    Looks great.

  28. Lisa C. Norman on May 16, 2022 at 8:07 pm

the grass looks so great now where did you purchase your nine bark and how much water do you give it?

  29. deanna roberson on May 16, 2022 at 8:07 pm

Laura have you thought about maybe doing a ladies day garden event with your church. They could come help harvest herbs and flower and take home some so it doesn’t go to waste?

  30. Beverly F on May 16, 2022 at 8:08 pm

I always leave my Cilantro to set seed, then collect the seed which is known as Coriander seed!

  31. Yushi Kuang on May 16, 2022 at 8:10 pm

I have so much pepper mints on my backyard…i guess i can do that and have a good reserve of organic mints tea for winter.

  32. Lake Mary Gardens on May 16, 2022 at 8:11 pm

  33. kara andersen on May 16, 2022 at 8:12 pm

I love the idea of growing and using stevia instead of using other sweeteners, never considered before! What are good ways to use it?

  34. Barbara Cartwright on May 16, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Have you ever thought about putting in a Pink Muhly grass? They are so beautiful when they bloom.

  38. Alyssa Younan on May 16, 2022 at 8:19 pm

Don’t forget to dry as many red raspberry leaves from your parents garden for tea as a *labour and delivery* prep. I used it with all 4 babies 👶 and i swear by it to help with delivery and postpartum recovery.

  39. Sandra Engstrand on May 16, 2022 at 8:21 pm

I am cracking up—-Laura and the big giant ornamental grass 🤣🤣🤣

  40. Michele Kay on May 16, 2022 at 8:22 pm

Tip for hanging-style drying racks: Good idea to add a label/sticky note so you can identify when dry. Some are tougher to discern when fully dry. And when some herbs crumble, light debris will fall from one layer to lower ones …still trying to work that out. I placed some on paper towels & wrote the variety with Sharpie. I know this cuts down on some air flow, but it seemed helpful (at least until I have a better option!)

  41. Kristy Dudgeon on May 16, 2022 at 8:22 pm

Gees I wish my junk room looked that good!

  42. Ancy Y on May 16, 2022 at 8:24 pm

Seeing this now makes me go woww what an amazing change in just 10 months

  43. landipan on May 16, 2022 at 8:25 pm

What is the paint color that you used for that room you left your herb drying rack in? Sorry, it’s a totally random question but I just thought it was a really nice color.

You mentioned black tree rope in the video. Could you post a link? I have searched for it, and have been directed to tree climbing rope, not the type we need to support our trees.
