PRESERVING Herbs from Garden // Sustainable Living on an Urban Homestead // Dried Herbs
Preserving herbs from the garden // The herbs in my garden are thriving right now and I want to preserve and store them so that I can have herbs to use throughout the winter months when they are not available. You have given these plants the love and care they needed to thrive so it is important to harness that energy and make the most of it.
Preserving our garden harvests also allows you to slow down and reconnect with where your food comes from. It just feels so right to go out to the garden and pick food that you know exactly what has gone into creating it.
Herbs are the easiest thing to start growing at in your home garden because they are hardy and less susceptible to pests. They also do not require a lot of room to grow. So you can grow herbs even if you do not have a garden. It is absolutely achievable and you never know where the journey will take you.

Guava leaf tea! Good to know. The teas look so pretty with flower petals and dried citrus mixed in. You can also harvest hibiscus, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and mulberry leaves for tea.
Great idea! Would you consider doing a video on making different types of tea blends?
Love the baking paper idea!! Unfortunately I have a round dehydrater!! Cheers!!
Ahhh….the aesthetic of this video 🙌 keep it coming yay!!!!
Lavender tea sounds good. ☕
Sooooo many herbs 👍
So inspired
If you don’t have a dehydrator you can use the oven on a very low setting or if it is warm and dry where you live you can hang them upside to air-dry. Or ask around someone is bound to have a dehydrator hidden in their cupboard they wouldn’t mind you borrowing and you could gift them some of your delicious herbs in return.
