Planting an Herb Garden with Centuries-Old Favorites
Jon and Ivy are planting an 18th century kitchen garden! There were different types of gardens; this one is more of a “soup herb” garden containing several “sweet herbs” that were usually bundled and tossed into soups or sauces for extra flavor. The herbs in this video are just a few of the many possibilities. We made our list from the suggestions found in the 1778 book, “The Universal Gardener and Botanist.” The recipes in period cookbooks offer other great ideas as well.
