You’re not the only one that’s worried about freezing your toes and fingers off Luke! Great video and well put together. Thanks for sharing brother. BTW, I’ve not told you but I love the new graphics! 🙂
I’d want to make sure that galvanized tin is non-toxic. In fact, I’d prefer a clay or ceramic planter.
bet it grows great , yeah here in texas i think we are about to start planting stuff, its in the 50s and 60s all this week , all the stores are getting plants in , all my onions and garlic are coming up
Glck gdrgfrr
I planted some herbs not long ago sadly I don’t have any real sun light 🙁 but I planted seeds 🙂
Ama*zon has a 14 gallon round galvanized steel tub for nineteen ninety seven US free s & h for prim3 members. Made by Behrens.
Look at the clarity of this video! AWESOME!
Love the video! I’m definitely going to look for that style tin to start herbs for the windowsill in my kitchen!! Thankfully my seeds I ordered from Amazon came in a padded envelope!
i realize this is 5 years after your video, so i hope you see my question. i am trying to learn some things about beginner gardening being that i have no significant experience, When i see people like yourself who are experienced and know what they are doing and put no rocks in the bottom of containers it makes me wonder if drainage is necessary? Some say yes yet I see others like in this video who do not. I would very much appreciate your insight. It is now the end of March and i want to set up something soon while hoping to get your response first.
Hi MIGardener,
I tried to grow a herbgarden indoors, but the plants didn’t seem to do so well. Probably because of a lack of sunlight I have because of the neighboors trees… Do you know which herbs I can grow this way and are shade tollerant? Thanks a lot!
P.S. The winter overhere in Europe is like autumn at the moment. Temperatures are unusually high for the time of the year.
That’s crazy! In California we are getting 70 degree weather!
I actually got stranded in Chicago with no way to get out for at least another week because my flight got canceled due to the weather and I would not be able to get another one till the weather gets better. So I ended up driving all the way home to Southern California because I had to get out of the cold.
Spring fever—I am already going nuts, great info on the herbs
Woop! Can’t wait to see them grow 🙂
Trough… it’s a planter.
Great way to pass some time during the winter, and will make a nice little herb garden.
With the peat in your mixture, I thought you would of dampened the soil mixture before you wanted the seeds to ensure germination
did he drill drainage holes or did he just scoop the soil in 🤣
I have just found you in the last few days. I am greatly enjoying your vids. It is June 24, ’14. My tomatoes are doing great but the squash is a real dud this year. Put in 3 zucchini & 3 yellow crook-neck. one of the crook-neck got about a foot tall and just died. The Others did well having lots of blossoms……must have all been male because I haven’t gotten but about 10 squash off my plants. So sad! I have used the Miracle-Grow fertilizer that you connect to a water hose. I am getting lots of tomatoes. I planted 5-6 different types. I have sure learned a lot from the you tube garden videos. Next year I will be doing the things that I have learned like ways to prune. I am still trying to work my way through the vids you have here. Sure wish I had the area you do to plant a garden. My area is maybe 12 x 12 ft only and for tomatoes, basil (5) and squash and another area maybe 6 x 8 ft that I have bush beans, spinach, parsley. Thanks for doing this., Charlene
It’s not hard to lose track and order too many seeds, happens all the time to me.
Take care Paul
Came here for indoor herb garden planting tips… found irl Clark Kent! 😀
Thanks for the tips! I want to start window gardens soon but am wondering about drainage. I read your response to another comments stating there’s no problem with drainage. But I am reading elsewhere that it’s important to have holes in the bottom of the pot. Your thoughts?
I live in florida and i hate the weather. No change of seasons whatsoever. Im only 17 though so i have to wait another year or so to go back up north
Any problems with drainage?
Nice video Luke. Do you have a south facing window? Can this type of thing grow in an East or West window? I guess I can give it try and find out!
I have to plant some stuff soon too. I am going crazy. On a side note, the sound is such a great improvement.
Those mini gardens are a great idea. I might do one soon too. And thanks for the pumpkin seeds, I got them yesterday 🙂
If I had to guess, that container looks like the _baby_ of what we use for animal watering buckets around the homestead 😉 I hope your herb garden helps stave off the winter cold!
Luke, liked your video, but you lost me when you said, "…..sometimes the post office doesn’t know how to handle things with care."
They’re supposed to know what’s in a small package? It’s not their job to know what’s in the package, it’s their job to deliver it. Maybe you bought dried out, crap seeds?…. maybe?
Get to the point mate… switched off after two minutes of you deciding what you have in your hands…
