Make a portable herb basket | Quick Crops | Gardening Australia
Sick of buying sleeved herbs at the supermarket to take with you on holiday? Millie plants a basketful of a tasty herbs that can travel! Or, for while we’re staying closer to home during the COVID-19 pandemic… what a great gift for a cooped up friend.
You’ll need
A cane basket, approx. 200-300mm deep
Plastic liner
Good quality potting mix
Organic fertiliser
Worm castings
Herbs, picking greens and 1:38 edible flowers
Method
1:47 Line your basket with plastic to prevent soil washing out.
Cut some drainage holes in the liner.
Fill the basket with potting mix blended with organic fertiliser and worm castings.
2:00 Plant the herbs, arranging the tallest varieties in the centre of the basket and trailing varieties towards the edge.
Water in and liquid feed every 2-4 weeks.
Go Camping!
