I purchased a grow light to go along with this Burpee Kit. How long does the light need to be on?

  5. smyers820gm on May 23, 2022 at 8:15 pm

Is the tray that holds the seeds/coconut husks supposed to have a hole in the bottom of each little cup? So water can get to the roots?

Thanks for your tutorial video on this Burpee 36 cell seed start system. I am more of a visual person and understand the process much better when I see it being done. Great visual tutorial. I have the 36 cell and in the process of setting up my spinach, collards and lettuce seeds to germinate for my container garden.

  10. girl girl on May 23, 2022 at 8:23 pm

  11. Cheryl Taylor on May 23, 2022 at 8:23 pm

Wow! I knew I was doing it wrong. Yes I read the directions but I interpreted it wrong! Plus I didnt realized the paper was in the bottom since this wasn’t purchased from a regular store. Lol!

  12. Alyse Zabalgoitia on May 23, 2022 at 8:24 pm

Hey! Where did you sit your kits? Did you use a heating mat and indoor grow lights? Would this work in outdoor light for 12 hours if I didn’t have a heat mat/grow lights?

  15. Janice Knight on May 23, 2022 at 8:31 pm

So glad I was able to find Burbee’s video. Having never used a kit before, there would have been considerable head scratching, wondering if I had done things right. Now it’s no worries! Thanks muchly!

  16. All Things Florida Beautiful on May 23, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Where do you recommend to keep this until planting? How much sun?

  17. Joanna B on May 23, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Use warm water to expand pellets.

  18. Susan Munsell on May 23, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Once you plant your seeds, how much sunlight??

So helpful! Thank you! I have the same exact kit and I watched this video to MAKE SURE I was following directions right and you’re right, sooo much better when you have a live person showing you!

Question please, WHEN and HOW do I know when it’s time to transplant them? I live in an apartment with no balcony or patio so I just have them indoors at all times and have grow lights on them 16-18hrs/day. They are growing beautifully but some are now to the point where they are touching the humidity cover. So I’m wondering if I should remove it or transplant the ones that are out growing the lid?

    Thank you!!!

  21. Lisa Phillips on May 23, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Thank you! There were no directions in my kit. This was so helpful!!

  23. Keith Goodman on May 23, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Nice tutorial, I just bought the 72 cell kit and started reading reviews on it (should have read reviews first I suppose!). Was very disappointed with the amount of negative feedback. Seems many of the pellets did not absorb the water and expand, complaints of white mold on the surface of the soil, etc.I was ready to take it back for a refund until I decided to youtube it and get some info. I’m guessing most customers did not read the instructions properly and I am sure your video will make set up much easier. I also read a tip that the water should be warm when pouring on the pellets. Thanks again for your video, looking forward to a successful germination now!

72 cell starter in Amazon is 23$! Pricy!!
How did farmer germinate to spinage seed inexpensiveway??

  31. Duchess of Dallas on May 23, 2022 at 8:48 pm

    Great video! 👍🏽

  32. Marie Wilcox on May 23, 2022 at 8:49 pm

Why don’t people read the instructions?? It says to put the cells into the water tray first to soak the pellets. Then put the cells on the plant stand after they are expanded. Just saying read the directions. Burpee also have their product videos on YouTube.

  33. Patrick on May 23, 2022 at 8:49 pm

I just got into gardening and I am SO EXCITED! I’m about to start my seeds now

  39. Mark Taylor on May 23, 2022 at 8:56 pm

What a piece of garbage that set is. I find it hard to believe that a company would sell this. Great video thanks.

  40. Karissa Fleming on May 23, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Do you leave the lid on it 24/7? Also do you leave it out in direct sunlight? This is my first time doing a garden so I feel like I’m doing it wrong. I tried it the first time and I found some of my seeds turned to mush like they rotted so I’ve been leaving the lid off of it some too in Hope’s I dont ruin these seeds too

  41. Vidya n on May 23, 2022 at 9:02 pm

This video was very useful. I’m going to start mine.

  42. Chuck Ippy on May 23, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Hi, This is CHuck. After you plant your seeds and cover it. Does it need light if planted inside right away?

  43. JAY Croyle on May 23, 2022 at 9:05 pm

I found this video extremely helpful, I actually bought this same seed starting kit and your video and your pro tips are going to be very helpful. Looking forward to getting my seeds started.

  44. degacci on May 23, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Thanks for the video I’m used to jiffy pellets so I’m sitting here waiting for them to expand all the way 🤣 good thing for youtube and your video. This is my first time trying burpee so we’ll see how it goes! Jiffy is cool hasn’t let me down I just hate the mesh nets they come in, if I don’t move my seedlings out quick enough they grow through… I know you’re supposed to plant them with the mesh but… call me old fashioned I like my roots to roam soil freely.

  45. Madeline Vazquez on May 23, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Thank you so much. Be blessed
