Can you plant anywhere in a yard? I had a miscarriage in my first trimester and we buried our little one in the backyard. I have been thinking of making a garden around the place baby is buried but have never done gardening before. Is that possible?

Thank you for this. I was told I had a "black thumb" and have never been good at keeping things alive but I am determined to have flowers that thrive this year. I researched for hours and picked the flowers for my beds carefully based on sun exposure and our soil. Every choice I made promised to be low maintenance perennials because I wanted to give myself the best possible chance, haha. But I still have questions that seem to "basic" and no one answers in a way that makes sense to a complete beginner. For instance, most of the plants I have chosen say to keep the soil watered at "1 inch a week". What exactly does that mean and how do you do that? I have under and over watered things in the past and I don’t want to make the same mistake.

This was such a helpful video for me. I am a first-time gardener and my husband and I recently cleared out two sections in our front yard and put a nice border around them to make a garden, and now all I have to do is buy plants and flowers and plant them. I thought it would be an easy task, but the more I research it, the more I realize just how many details there are! Annuals, perennials, soil, garden zones, itโ€™s a lot! I really appreciate you breaking everything down and making it easy

  25. Homebody Diaries on November 10, 2021 at 12:57 pm

Another great video! Thank you for breaking down the plant tag info for beginners like me who are relatively new to gardening in the United States. Please could you share your tips for planning a flower garden – how to balance annuals and perennials for a good look, how much money we should be prepared to invest in it, what are the basic gardening tools we need. (We are hoping to buy a home next year so trying to educate myself about it. Good to be aware of the garden/lawn maintenance costs etc – especially for first time home owners). Thank you Vidya!
