I have a large Ficus Elastica that I just purchased. The roots look rather packed. Should I wait until the spring until I repot it? It’s indoors.

Great information, thank you. Quick question, is it normal for an Apple Blossom and a Cherry Blossom to grow on the same tree…

  3. liziking306 on July 27, 2021 at 7:55 pm

I recently purchased this potting mix. If I’m going to put my snake plant in a plastic container, should I add some perlite just so it does not hold moisture too long?

I have one just like that and she got her 3d baby already. Was looking for such a video to give the babies their own places

Hey Laura! I am addicted to plants, but don’t know a whole deal about them, so I was so excited to find your amazing youtube channel!! I have a couple questions, I just bought a beautiful cordyline with dark purplish and bright hot pink foliage. I want to put it in the corner of my room on top of a bookshelf. No direct sun up there, but it gets pretty bright in my room in the middle of the day. Do you think it would do ok up there?? Also… my dad has snake plants that he hasn’t repotted in probably 10-15 (maybe more, literally) years!! But they do ok… They are giant!!! But the leaves at the edges of the pots are starting to fall over… I mean I’m sure after watching this it is probably a good idea to repot, but it’s been so many years and they haven’t died and still throw up flower stalks, so is it really necessary to repot so often?? I honestly never ever thought of needing to do that… I thought buy a plant, pot it up and you’re done lol. I also have a zebra plant that I have had 3 years that does awesome (although I’ve never gotten it to flower). Maybe some house plants can hold an exception? I don’t know lol.

Love your videos, very informal! Thank you!

  9. CJ on July 27, 2021 at 8:05 pm

Ahh, I just knew you were going to say the first step was to cover the drain hole with a coffee filter to keep the dirt in the pot!!

  10. Line Dallaire on July 27, 2021 at 8:05 pm

Thank you…just what I was looking for!

  11. Gregorio Davila on July 27, 2021 at 8:05 pm

Thank you for making a clear concise video that’s straight to the point and very informative. I don’t have time for 20 min videos where people ramble on about nothing. Get in and get out! Thank you!

This video is horrible for anyone that want to keep sansevieria.

  13. mawpatti on July 27, 2021 at 8:06 pm

  14. Bahareh Lotfi on July 27, 2021 at 8:07 pm

Would really appreciate any help on as to why my palm tree’s leaves are Browning… the label calls it a cat Palm… 🤔🤔

  16. Cjhensler on July 27, 2021 at 8:09 pm

Hey Laura, you said you want to eliminate any air pockets by packing in the dirt. How tightly should you pack it down before it actually impedes root growth and prevents them from getting air?

  18. Emily Rodrigues on July 27, 2021 at 8:13 pm

What is the best potting soil for potted lavender?

  19. Larissa Ives on July 27, 2021 at 8:13 pm

lmao @ the fact that sansavieria is a succulent and should definitely be being potted in a cactus soil mix

  20. Jo Reed on July 27, 2021 at 8:15 pm

    you sound like gun girl

  21. Lauren Sabino on July 27, 2021 at 8:18 pm

For anyone reading: a Snake Plant is a type of succulent, so therefore it should be potted in a cactus/succulent soil mix 🙂

  22. Adeola Bamiro on July 27, 2021 at 8:18 pm

love all your videos, any tips on creating a living wall in a covered deck.

  23. ceahorse56 on July 27, 2021 at 8:19 pm

Trick I use to cover the hole in the bottom of a pot is used window screen. Save some if you replace your window screens or pick up some old window screen on trash day. Works perfect!

  24. Adelina Linardon on July 27, 2021 at 8:24 pm

Laura, in Australia most of our commercial potting mixes come with slow release fertiliser. Is this the case in the US? If so would you still add fertiliser?

  29. Holly Hasegawa on July 27, 2021 at 8:29 pm

Thank you so much Laura, I have been trying to be super careful when I repot any of my house plants, to use the correct potting mix, and to make sure I don’t use to large of a pot. I love all of your tips and suggestions, thank you so much for this video it was very helpful.

  38. Gari W on July 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Do you recommend a specific time of year for repotting? Or does it not make much difference on indoor plants?

  39. Cassie Victor on July 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm

How often would you suggest taking it outside to get sun?

  40. toriamonkey11 on July 27, 2021 at 8:37 pm

  43. Ashwin Gupta on July 27, 2021 at 8:40 pm

What do you do if you have a pot without a hole on the bottom? How do you assure the roots do not rot / water can drain?

  44. Gretch G on July 27, 2021 at 8:41 pm

Love it! I have a few house plants and it reminds me I need to get fertilizer!
    Thanks Laura ☺️
