I want to build it, just worried about the paint. Birds will drink from it, won’t it be toxic with the spray paint you used?

  6. Cristhy Ramirez on April 20, 2022 at 6:32 pm

You explain very good and talk less. I like your video I give you 100 I will try to do one because I always want one and the store they cost a lot. God bless you for sharing with us.

  7. Tawny Torres on April 20, 2022 at 6:32 pm

Where did you plug this in? Did you use an extension cord? Did you burry the cord? Did you have to use an outdoor transformer?

  8. Chris Palo on April 20, 2022 at 6:33 pm

How powerful should the sub pump be, i.e. how many gph?

This is a great video! I was wondering, though—about how long until all the water evaporates/is lost? Thank you!

take the plug off the end of the pump ..feed it though the hole..better then making that hole bigger in the pot ..just wire plug back on ..

Best video I have seen on this DIY topic! So many others have too many steps and make the project seem daunting. I’m ready to do this! I have been working on my garden as I am off for chemo treatment. I have wanted a fountain but the costs for retail are prohibitive and quite honestly, mostly ugly. I’m recruiting my teenage son and am out the door to shop for a pot. Thank you also for anticipating any possible hitches along the way. Thank you also for making my life better!

Building one right now. Hopefully will come out as good.

I worked with sheet metal 19 years in a manufacturing plant. If you are going to use sheet metal, wear gloves. Trust me on that. My scars are still visible twenty years later. You don’t really need to use sheet metal at all. The dollar stores and garden centers sell round shallow bowls. You can find one to fit your pot. Look for a plastic bowl so you can put a hole through its center. I like the basic concept here. It gives the appearance of a pot filled to the rim with rock, but you use only a top layer. It won’t be as heavy and it will be easier to clean, maintain, and store in the off season. I question putting the electric plug inside the pot. There is risk of electric shock if the connection is sitting in water.

Where do you get the tubing to connect to the foutain? I have the same foutain and for 2 years i have looking for the exact tube size to fit in it! I tried using the fish tank tubing in the pet section of walmart, nothing fits right!

Where can we get some of the fountain pump
Small size and the big size

  35. jaykyu1 on April 20, 2022 at 7:02 pm

I like the "funnel" water return catcher. Maybe also a good spot to put a strainer to stop larger matter getting in the reservoir. Thanks!

  36. White Crayon on April 20, 2022 at 7:03 pm

How cool was that?! Thank you. I am so stealing your idea. It is perfect for me. How is it holding up?

    Great fountain..,thank you for sharing.

  43. El Gat Negre on April 20, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Nice! I wonder what if instead of using two pots and a metal covering you would use a single ceramic pot full of rocks all over the pump. It would be easier to build and theoretically it would work as well, wouldn’t it?

  44. LeeAnne Hazel on April 20, 2022 at 7:14 pm

Didn’t really show exactly how to put the pump in and how to put it all together besides the rocks and top funnel.

  45. ilovenitnat on April 20, 2022 at 7:16 pm

Half the diameter? that’ll be the radius.
