How To Make A Window Garden Box

Interested in starting plants indoors? In this episode of House of Hacks, Harley shows how to make a window garden box. His wife setup a plant nursery in their window that needed a way to reflect light back onto the plants to help the plants grow straight. Harley attaches a white shade to reflect light back into the plants.

i do about the same in winter to start my saplings for my garden. i made myself a 5storys rack with spiral lights beneath each floors and fluorescent tube on the sides. the whole rack is wrapped in aluminum bubble reflective insulation wrap. i even have hydronic? heating, a long tube spiral between each floor and has heated water running tru it with an aquarium pump and thermostat set in order to heat the soil to get faster germination. for watering i use a pesticide sprayer thing with the hand wand and the pump. i line my drawers with garbage bags so as to not drip water on the floor.

if you do this remind to shut the heating and ventilate your plants after they get their first leaves. if you dont they will get lanky and weak.

Nice solution Harley. I have seen similar commercial systems where the inside is a reflective foil material but they were stupid money!
