HOW TO GROW SAGE

HOW TO GROW SAGE

http://learn-how-to-garden.com

I hope you enjoy the second of my videos on herbs, this one being Sage, a brilliant herb in my book. Superb lightly fried until crisp and served with butternut squash ravioli or pork. Be creative with Sage it works with much more than you think.

I would love to hear how you use it.

So is there the same problem with sage bolting as with basil? I know for basil if they bolt they go bitter but for sage the flowers themselves are edible and very pretty…..so is it okay to let them flower? How will it affect the flavour of the leaves? Or the health of the rest of the plant? I know for some the plant dies after flowering and going to seed…..

When growing from seed, Is a sage entire bush the result of a single seed or overseeding?

  7. Libby Workman on July 22, 2022 at 10:30 pm

So far I have watched two channels by two different men who said they grow sage and I wanted to learn how to start seeds. Both men talked and talked and talked and talked. No help there.

Hi thanks for the vid – question for you if you can help. I was given a sage plant in a pot which was doing great but have noticed that the newer leaves are curling and growing warped. Do you know what may be causing this? It has been raining a lot here in the UK, could over watering be the cause? Thanks

Should Sage be pruned when it’s young to promote bushier growth?

  42. Alan Morris on July 22, 2022 at 11:16 pm

When I was growing up, we had a huge sage tree in our back yard. One day when I came home from school, my mom had paid some guy to cut it down to make room for a wooden outdoor shed. I was like, "Mama did you know what kind of tree that was!"

  45. Dianna Hayward on July 22, 2022 at 11:19 pm

I have both a 10 yr old sage and rosemary bush, both taste beautiful, I have taken spring cuttings off both just to be on the safe side, that are doing well also.

I think , for what you said ‘feeding only 2 a year’ , i should be feeding them also my lavender too much ..I put on the soil manure cow and may be is over feeded ..lavender are having problems now ..I’m doing so with flowers pot but maybe herbs in the soil doesn’t need to be feeded every 2 weeks as I do with flowers..what do you think ? there is something I’m doing wrong ..last years they were magnificent , clean and beautiful lavender plants ..sage officinalis still small now. Many thanks for your help.

  47. zebriu100 on July 22, 2022 at 11:21 pm

  48. Mary anne Lawless on July 22, 2022 at 11:21 pm

  49. C T on July 22, 2022 at 11:22 pm

This isn’t how to grow. It’s talking about it generally.
