About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on YouTube videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

If there are bearings in those wheels, you set it up so they are not doing their job.

  2. 半爷 Banye on May 21, 2022 at 8:08 pm

So cute and easy to make 👍 thank you

  3. Zoran Lončar Desančić on May 21, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Move the axel closer to the handle, in the middle of cargo box. It will become much easier.

  4. Patricia Hamilton Kephart on May 21, 2022 at 8:10 pm

It could be converted to a coop on wheels too if you add a door, wire and tarp! I love this cart!

  5. Mark Prescott on May 21, 2022 at 8:10 pm

I just started watching your channel last week, and I am finding a great deal of useful information. Thank you and God Bless!!

Where do you recommend getting the wheels from?

  13. paula from wisconsin future homesteader on May 21, 2022 at 8:16 pm

That’s was just so cool and making one for your daughter she will remember that all her life – great design my dad made one years ago from store designs also his had back plate to slide up if dumping a load and he used bigger tires and same aluminium edging also – again great job – lucky little girl!

  14. ABADDON 247 on May 21, 2022 at 8:17 pm

When Penelope came up behind you with her cart was so funny. Great build.

  15. Asheville NC Trail Camera on May 21, 2022 at 8:17 pm

Nice simple design, thanks. Where did you get the wheels? and what diameter are they?

  16. Rochelle Weaver on May 21, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Just added to my husband’s "honey do "list.☺

  17. Gina Armstrong on May 21, 2022 at 8:18 pm

  18. Ytanythinggoes on May 21, 2022 at 8:19 pm

Yes yes yes love its another project for me as my proper wheel barrow is cactus. Thank you for sharing great video it needs more shares 👍

  19. Jax Paradize on May 21, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Great build. One thing, you will want to get away from treated lumber for gardening. It would be best to get pine or cedar, and if you still don’t feel confident of the raw wood, throw some food safe uv protection. (Most of it is food safe but ask when buying it) have had mine for 8 years. Always add a sealant coat to keep it looking nice. Granted I need a bigger one now, still a good cart. I like the axel on this build. 👍🏽

  20. KesselRunHero j on May 21, 2022 at 8:21 pm

in 2021 prices that is a $500 cart – have you seen the price of 3/4 p.t. plywood!!! nIf you can even find it…

  21. B Tolton on May 21, 2022 at 8:24 pm

Nice job. One thing though. The edging was actually more crucial than you may have known. End grain of plywood does not take glue or screws well. Your box joints were unfortunately going to be prone to failure down the line without that reinforcement. joining plywood is actually a lot more tricky than most people think, you can’t treat it the same as solid wood since the end grain is very weak and prone to de-laminate when fasteners are put into it laterally. Most carpenters use various types of locking joint, lap joint or pocket screws to join plywood. check some of those joints out. they’re not too difficult, and extremely useful.

Awesome! Been thinking of making one but didn’t have a starting point. Thanks big time!

  23. Sonia B Dorsey on May 21, 2022 at 8:27 pm

I love your land! Beautiful! Beautiful build too!

  24. Tonia897 on May 21, 2022 at 8:28 pm

    Omgosh! That mini one

  25. Mixdplate on May 21, 2022 at 8:31 pm

I primarily watched this to see how you added axle/wheels to your cart as I’m considering doing that on a planters bench I have. Your video was so pleasing to watch, from the calmness in your instructions to the pleasant music. Also appreciated that you used most basic DIY tools. The cart came out great and the finale with your little girl and her cart was the cutest!!

  26. Peter on May 21, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Why didn`t you make the front panel removable for dumping?

  27. satatas91 on May 21, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Thank you so much. These are the best instructions I found so far and have watched a lot of videos.

  28. Richard Royles on May 21, 2022 at 8:34 pm

    Awesome cards. Kansas

  29. Marsha Smith on May 21, 2022 at 8:36 pm

That is so awesome!! Penelope has one to!! ♥️

  30. Rebecca X on May 21, 2022 at 8:39 pm

I wanted to know how to install wheels and this was a great way to do it 😊.

  31. DaveB on May 21, 2022 at 8:39 pm

Nice one! I built a cargo trailer for my bicycle out of an old child trailer, and never thought of using it to carry things around in the yard! I just need to modify it a bit to maybe add a large caster in the center and put on some handles… ideas, ideas!

  32. Juan Conejo on May 21, 2022 at 8:41 pm

    Pretty good

  33. Favid Jenden on May 21, 2022 at 8:41 pm

1/2 in plywood sides would make it lighter still be really strong with the aluminum….
    Nice build

  34. Thomas T on May 21, 2022 at 8:42 pm

To add more strength to the four walls, I would suggest cutting a rabbet or dado (recessed troughs) into them with a router or table saw. Then glue where you join them, followed by the screws.

  35. Aaron Alquiza on May 21, 2022 at 8:43 pm

i felt a nice comforting atmosphere throughout the video.

  36. NDUGOD on May 21, 2022 at 8:43 pm

    Good. Cool. 👍👍👍

  37. Turnip on May 21, 2022 at 8:43 pm

I’d like to say the cinematography in this video is fantastic!

The cart itself looks wonderful too!

  38. TheClaudos on May 21, 2022 at 8:44 pm

    Awesome stuff. I love it.

  39. Karen Marr on May 21, 2022 at 8:47 pm

@Sowtheland, how has the dowel between the handles worked out? I wonder if it could get in the way of your filling or emptying it? Great job, enjoyed this video. Thanks.

  40. Cameron on May 21, 2022 at 8:49 pm

If you actually wanted to make it as durable and weather proof as possible you should have swapped the wood for aluminum sheeting, that would have made it much lighter as well.

  41. satatas91 on May 21, 2022 at 8:49 pm

Thank you so much. Excellent video. To the point. Not trying to be a youtube star by yacking away nonsense. Just perfect.

  42. Arlene Johnson on May 21, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Wow, Jason, you do such beautiful work! I watched you make the bus for Justin and admired you tremendously. Great job.

  43. ashzole on May 21, 2022 at 8:51 pm

  44. Marco on May 21, 2022 at 8:52 pm

    how much was the wood?

  45. Jeff Pate on May 21, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Nice build… from where did you get the wheels for the cart? Is this information included on the plans you have?

  46. Matt's Plot on May 21, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Fantastic video, I have plans for something similar to hold my animal feed and water buckets, hopefully making morning chores much quicker, all the best
