Luckily I am living in a house with a garden outside, so we always plant organic greens for meals every day.

This was the best review of the Gardyn I’ve seen. Thanks for being so real! I still want one but we’re going to attempt some DIY hydroponics first and see how we like it. Thank you for the video! Very helpful!

Great paid advertisement! You must be an idiot to spend money on this crap. You cane easily diy this or grow traditional way or buy your veggies cheaper in market

  7. 42x3 on November 21, 2021 at 1:41 pm

I do have a simple question.. given the fact you received a demo to review. Why would anyone buy this model? For say a starting price of $900 with a $30 month subscription, your ROI would never warrant the purchase. You would be losing money.

In comparison, take the Aerogarden Farm 24Xl, which is roughly the same cost. It’s a one time cost. You can plant anything from herbs to strawberries, basically anything that isn’t a root vegetable. The pods are reusable and you can use rock wool and your own seeds without having to buy from the manufacturer again and again.

This product doesn’t really offer any true value.

Thanks for all the little details that people seem to leave out in their reviews.

  9. David Dreyer on November 21, 2021 at 1:43 pm

    Fantastic review! Great job.

  10. Rosana Pasquini on November 21, 2021 at 1:43 pm

I love it but the cost of the unit has stopped me from purchasing it.

A great presentation: informative, witty, sardonic, self-effacing, attractive, well spoken and a mellifluous voice, plus 2 cute kids – an ideal combination! I could watch this group watching paint dry! (This is not a serious suggestion for a future program!)

    Fun Guys

  13. Taylor on November 21, 2021 at 1:46 pm

    Great video!!!!!

  14. sn232 on November 21, 2021 at 1:46 pm

Food grade hydrogen peroxide (3%), wiped onto the green fungus with a q-tip, would have gotten rid of it without killing the plants. Thanks for the video! So how often do you clean the insides of the tubes? I heard that you have to disassemble everything to clean the tubes, is that correct?

  15. Octopus Technology on November 21, 2021 at 1:47 pm

    Excellent video!

    Is rockwool good for health?

  17. Erik Thiart on November 21, 2021 at 1:51 pm

She’s pretty good at this review business, wow.

  18. Kiran Kumar on November 21, 2021 at 1:52 pm

You can’t put the pods right in! They need to be first grown elsewhere until they sprout and then inserted into the Gardyn unit. This is a bummer for me. I don’t have to do that on my simple homemade garden system. $800 + $monthly gutted. No.

  19. photobackflip on November 21, 2021 at 1:53 pm

You could DIY this for like $50.

  20. MK on November 21, 2021 at 1:53 pm

$800 LMAO … go to HomeDepot or Lowes and make your own

  21. OverFive on November 21, 2021 at 1:54 pm

Very nice video, in some places even slightly funny, the green plants grown in the house are of real use.

  22. CNET on November 21, 2021 at 1:54 pm

What do you think of smart hydroponics? Are you ready to start growing your greens at home?

  23. real_abiola on November 21, 2021 at 1:56 pm

Sorry, but the math isn’t mathing. $800 plus tax + monthly fee. Why is it so expensive for a bucket, pvc pipes and led lights?

  24. Ce De on November 21, 2021 at 1:57 pm

Hi Bridget/CNET—can you say more about how you sprouted the pods before putting them into the garden? I have the same trays from the container store that you do in the video. I’d rather use those than the “nursery” that gardyn is selling for $70. Did you just add water to the bottom of the tray and leave the pods alone till they sprouted? How much water? Did you also sprinkle water on the pods themselves? TIA

  25. withonestone on November 21, 2021 at 1:58 pm

    Brilliant!

  26. Keto Wolf on November 21, 2021 at 1:58 pm

Wow, I did not expect CNET to cover something like this. Fantastic video! Entertaining and informative without trying too hard to be entertaining!

You touched on my concerns with something like this.

You mentioned cleaning maintenances once a week.

But there’s other maintenance such as trimming roots and cleaning out mold (yuck! Fungus is the scariest part to me lol)

How many hours of combined maintenance would you say a week do you spend?

A very well made and full detailed video with a lot of cuteness added here and there.

  42. Nick J on November 21, 2021 at 2:18 pm

I bought two iHarvest. One came and one did not. The one that did was missing pieces and the nutrients had bust open. Still don’t have the second one. Buy elsewhere!

  43. NavigatedChaos on November 21, 2021 at 2:18 pm

AeroGarden has much better products for A LOT cheaper when on sale. Normal price for one about this size is $700 rounded. When on sale like today, it’s dropped to about $400.

  44. Kathy Love on November 21, 2021 at 2:19 pm
