Would it work if we add an aeration stone at bottom? 🤔🤔🤔

  2. Ben There on May 25, 2022 at 8:16 pm

The right mix for the water crystals is 1 teaspoon per 750 mL of water. It will not suffocate the plant if you mix the water crystals with coconut coir or something similar.

  3. Pradeep Koushik on May 25, 2022 at 8:17 pm

    light is preventing germination

  4. crazy squirrel on May 25, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Had some fun here. I played your video at 1/2 speed. You sound STONED! LOL
You forgot to drain off excess water.
Starting them in that is OK. Growing them in that might not be.
I tried it with a few lettuce seeds. They sprouted in 1/2 the time!
When they get bigger I will transplant them into potting mix. Or a SOCK? Knee high?

  5. Solangela Lebron on May 25, 2022 at 8:18 pm

You have to mix the gel with soil as if it were pellets or seeds.

  6. L Ah on May 25, 2022 at 8:19 pm

Those flies exude an enzyme that kills, deteriorates & rots the plant so that it grows bacteria and can eat it. That’s why many use screen or cheesecloth to keep the critters out and will also let light in. (Pedantic I know but, works…)

  7. Fred Lamb on May 25, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Could it be that your solution was too clear, transparent? Plants aren’t supposed to get light to the roots. I’m thinking of doing a similar experiment, but with colored gel, probably red, to keep UV rays from the roots.

  8. Blue Ridge DSIA on May 25, 2022 at 8:24 pm

tissue culture is done in agar, might be worth trying like this. I kind of wonder how cutting would do here

  9. Shawn Henschel on May 25, 2022 at 8:26 pm

This would be incredibly useful for transportation of plants to sell at storefronts. Why chop down a plant, package it, then transport it when you could instead transport the plant still alive with a hydroponic gel?

  10. Joseph Tracy on May 25, 2022 at 8:27 pm

    Did you check the ph?

  11. jason verrastro on May 25, 2022 at 8:28 pm

They need air. Do a kratkey system, sprout them first then set the roots on top leaving space for air roots.

  12. Dale Me on May 25, 2022 at 8:28 pm

What if you tried it in natural light?

  13. GreenDNA on May 25, 2022 at 8:28 pm

Need air for the roots bud

  14. crazy squirrel on May 25, 2022 at 8:28 pm

Additionally, some seeds require light to germinate.
Maybe fill container with dirt, add a layer on top, then place seeds on/in the hydrogel.

    Lights way to close.
    Take it up a ft.

Excellent experiment …..even if it did not work out exactly as you expected. I am always looking for something cheep (FREE) to use…..has anyone tried using just every day river sand for seeing plants. The sand is just there to hold seed and hold a little moister in for a bit. The food comes from the solution you use to water them daily…………I can get 20 yards of sand free anytime……I am going to try it myself this weekend. I watched your other video about starting seed using Vermiculite and Perlite and that worked out great…..I am hoping the sand will enable me to get the seeds started and then reuse it over and over again.

  19. Kevin Vanderhoef on May 25, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Mindyou, it tells you how much water to use with the water crystals on the container label for the water crystals…

Very educational content about Haocho "Hydrogel Planting Media". Good luck for the future

  21. Bestia Getha on May 25, 2022 at 8:38 pm

Have you tried that in a black bucket and using sprouted plants from a rockwool cube? Perhaps more of a deep water culture type grow?…

  22. Philip Ripper on May 25, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Did you get agronomy water gel? Just random water gel isn’t the same stuff.

  23. NefFy on May 25, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Or try and sprout them and then put them And then put them in the gel……because you’re essentially trying to drown a seed…. And hoping it will grow But I still like watching this kind of experience saves me some time!

  24. crazy squirrel on May 25, 2022 at 8:43 pm

Maybe READ the directions on the hydrogel???
Also, tap water contains bad things in it. Chlorine/chloramine, and other bad chemicals.
Try using well water (untreated) since it is generally better and has dissolved minerals in it.

    Here is a fun fact:
Plants do not normally utilize green light. Algae is a plant.
So, it stands to reason that a clear green container would provide a benefit for your experiment.

  25. stopit4uca on May 25, 2022 at 8:43 pm

I was watching your video I found it quite interesting I’ve been pondering why it was unsuccessful I was thinking if you revisit this method and maybe you could incorporate air pruning with the cracky method as well as along the routes to reach the water similar to a hydroponic system with the gel maybe have a air bubbler the gel. perhaps maybe black it out like people do with ant farms and once the plants take root in the gel you can you can do an unreveal I do hope you revisit this idea.
    failures are just future successes.

What about modify the jelly Tec and mash up solid mass to a rough mush to allow oxygen threw but test the growing in such form, seems a decent idea for more desert areas with high evaporation and jellypoincs sounds cool. ✌️😎

  27. The Chaos Gardener on May 25, 2022 at 8:45 pm

You gotta add more water so there’s air spaces between the crystals

  28. Wild Cats Life on May 25, 2022 at 8:46 pm

I put orbees on plants with soil but it’s looks sad

  31. Van Niyo on May 25, 2022 at 8:49 pm

    Try using perlite

  32. Artfish Studio on May 25, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Cool findings! I wanted to use this for my plants. I will stick to cocopeat for a while. Your funny lol 😂

  33. marten3451 on May 25, 2022 at 8:51 pm

What would happen if you put clear plastic wrap above the bowl to create a greenhouse to allow the seeds to germinate faster?

  34. Paul sherman on May 25, 2022 at 8:51 pm

How about you try this again with Orbeez? As individual balls opposed to a gelatin you should very likely get better oxygen circulation. If the seeds don’t germinate, maybe try seedlings?

  35. Rich Laue on May 25, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Thomas Edison put it another way, a failure shows us how not to do it next time. We always learn something from a failure.

When his place burnt down, he used the time to get a fresh start.

  36. Neil Watkins on May 25, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Love your work mate. Very inspiring! 🙂 thank you

  37. NefFy on May 25, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Seats do not need anything besides a little bit of water and warm to grow they have everything they need inside the seed nature designs things play perfectly maybe try again without nutrients. And if that doesn’t work try just putting them in the ground. Lol where they were meant to grow. It’s also DARK when they are in the ground.

  38. Jonny_mazerati on May 25, 2022 at 8:56 pm

    His accent is hot

  39. Wayne on May 25, 2022 at 8:59 pm

might work better doing same experiment but with gell balls instead.

  40. MahoganyMonicle on May 25, 2022 at 8:59 pm

    🤣

  41. GMC Labs on May 25, 2022 at 8:59 pm

I thought you were gonna use the beads(kinda like orbeez), that might have worked.

  42. Rich Laue on May 25, 2022 at 9:00 pm

You really need to measure the proportions of water to crystals.

  43. Renan Ogiwara on May 25, 2022 at 9:01 pm

hey man, try again with a milimetric layer of this thing…. i think it will work

What a good insect trap XD

  45. Lion Reyez on May 25, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Dynamite was a fouled experiment, his assistant took the credit nitroglycerin. I’m the hardest working man in "No Business" or as I like to say "Your Business".

  46. Lion Reyez on May 25, 2022 at 9:09 pm

    Try sand.

  47. Dominique Davis on May 25, 2022 at 9:10 pm

I love the written commentary it’s freaking hilarious. I enjoyed this video. I’m going to try to find some hydroponic nutrients and the other stuff…. Thanks

  48. Humbulla93 on May 25, 2022 at 9:10 pm

some seeds wont sprout if it isnt dark, so blasting full power on unpopped seeds might be not the best idea,
roots do not like light they shrivle all up so covering the box or painting it black would improve on that situation,
and lastly the gel you could try to make a normal solution of your nutrient mix it with the gel and during "hardening" you pump it with an airstone full of air(to create small airpockets), so that the roots have acces to oxygen whis is essential for survival.
kind regards from germany and keep on experimenting. i´d suggest to look up high pressure aeroponics, that might be for you.

Didn’t Edison find 2 thousand ways to make a lightbulb before he stole it from Tesla?

  50. danyboyno1 on May 25, 2022 at 9:13 pm

Why don’t you try with gelatine strips and make hydroponic jelly……a lot cheaper than "water crystals"
