If you`re like me, on SSI with no transportation, the value of access to fresh vegetables changes. I`ve spent around 600 dollars to have indoor vegetables.

In Chinese cuisine, pea shoots/flowers are often used instead of the pea pods. I’m going to try growing them indoors this fall!

You stated that lettuce needs full spectrum lights. I grow lettuce under 5000k shop lights, is there some reason full spectrum would be better? Also, I have yet to find a sterile potting mix, what brand do you use? I have been saturating all of my potting mix with boiling water before I bring it indoors and it takes a lot of extra time. Thank you for the video.

Where are the other 2 videos for growing potatoes indoors? 🤔

  15. Linda on June 24, 2022 at 9:45 pm

I don’t wait for the pea plants to produce peas, I harvest the leaves and use them in salads. They taste exactly like the peas and are a nice fresh addition to a salad. So I get two harvest from the one plant. And they will grow outside in a more rain than snow winter in a bucket and a cage with some row cover fastened around. They are pretty hardy. Note to self: deer love them too.

Great video Jeff! It’s almost time to move indoors here; we have 4 or 5 days of subfreezing nights expected at the end of next week. I need to hurry up and harvest the last winter squashes and peppers and drain the outdoor water system!!!

  20. Christina Cyrus on June 24, 2022 at 9:53 pm

I’m growing some of the crops you mentioned but also greens. I want to eat a microgreen salad daily so no lettuce. Growing mustard, collards, arugula and chard to eat as baby greens. Love sugar snap so I’ll try those and bush beans. Will be growing hydroponically. Big winter project. Wish me luck!😀

Question about growing cilantro and green onion indoors. Will they germinate in a window or do you need grow lights for those two? Thanks for the tips. I normally grow Basil only indoors over the winter but am going to try the green onion, chives AND cilantro as we love all of these throughout the year. Thanks again.

Jeff,,,you are such a wealth of information! Just love your channel! 🇨🇦💕

  50. Matt Baker on June 24, 2022 at 10:28 pm

Good information there. Just wondering why non-drilled pots are such a bad idea? As long as you don’t overwater then it should be fine? I recycle 1l milk cartons and add to them as I use them, but I don’t pierce the base. 14 fit on one windowsill and I have a 3 part propagator on another, and a mini herb pot on yet another! It’s amazing how much you can grow in a small space.

Good tip on the green onions, we call them spring onions over in the UK, I think I’ll have to sort a mini indoor garden for my elderly parents, Dad loves spring onions and radishes, rocket etc.
