I’ve updated and improved my Sims 4 Gardening Guide for 2020. This guide features everything a new player needs to know about one of the Sims 4’s deepest skills. It should be useful in some way to both beginners and veterans to the Sims.
Gardening has an extensive plant list, fertilizing, and evolution that may be difficult for new players to understand. This guide explains how everything works and provides helpful tips to making the most of all these features.
We go over how to finish the plant collection, make a greenhouse, and make a massive garden that flourishes whether the player owns The Sims 4 Seasons or not.
This is to replace my original gardening skill video, which was a bit out of date due to recent changes and was not up to the standard of quality I’m attempting to set for my guide videos. Let me know how it turned out, and if you see improvement in my work. It definitely helps me get better. I hope it was helpful to any newbies out there.

Honestly I was struggling with gardening thank you for giving me hella tips that I had no idea about. I would garden everyday and then for some reason my plants would become a pile of dirt… it pissed me off
I don’t know if it’ll ever be patched out but if you pause your game and tell your sim to fertilize with the same item over and over it’ll only use one item on all the plants
I’m also pretty sure you can delete the floor in your greenhouse so you don’t have to buy planter boxes. It can be kinda hard to get it right with either the plants telling you they can’t be planted indoors or them being put in the household inventory if you make the room around them

Do you have to have seasons pack for this & how do i get the money tree? Also i can’t seem to actually plant anything. I’ve got all the stuff for it but it just says purchase seeds which i already did🤷🏿
If your plants aren’t flourishing when the seasons change, they need to be polinated by the bees.
Watch that cow plant it will kill your sim if you try to eat the cake
Plants can grow vertical indoors now. Is this only a space saving option, or is the quality better than the normal indoor plants?

Do plant pots actually do anything another than let you plant things indoors? Their description says something about enriched soil.

(Regular Sims 4 game on Xbox One): I’m level 10 Gardening and have killed all 15 of my plants. They also never produced fruit even after 1 full week after planting. Even though I’ve literally done nothing but tend to them, water them, and fertilize them for the past 2 hours of my life (2 weeks, Sims time). Plz someone help me
A person I know says that its pointless and boring to do gardening in the Sims 4 I decided to prove them wrong just for fun but ended up making one of my favorite Sim saves, I usually randomize what the sim looks like and touch up some of the weird details because I’m not good at CAS my sim was physically bigger so I took the challenge of trying to let my sim lose weight, sim now is the "average" size, now has a gardening hobby, still watches their weight, and has a good garden 🙂
Honestly sims 4 is the best at gardening. Really they went the extra mile for it. Its one of the reasons I like sims 4.
For the greenhouse just remove the floor of the room and plant straight into the ground

About the Fertilizer, is Rainbow and Gold dog/cat poop is a good fertilizer option? If so, how good are they?

I’ve found Growfruit (not anymore) then fish are the best fertilizers.
FYI, in the greenhouse, you can delete the floor and plant the garden just like you would outdoors. No need for the planting pots. Save some money. I just had an idea, which would yield more annually, sheltered or outdoors. It might break even given outdoors is only 2 seasons of the year, whereas sheltered yields all year long. Maybe do an experiment and let us know.
Can patchy take care of a cowplant?
Question: Can the sprinkler OVER water? Or can I just leave my army of sprinklers going 24/7?

Ive been using the cheapest fish to fertilize thinking it didnt matter as long as it was fish.
was it just me or did this video not say anything about fertilization, or was it just not in the game when this veio was made? i came here to find out how to get fertilizer or buy it…the only thing my sim has in her inventory is trash piles or my other plants that i need to plant that i dont want to use for fertilizer
İf we have cats and dogs pack in game, can we use pet poops as a feritilizer? My uncle does like that in his farm😂
I have six Sims. Five of them have a job, and only one of them working from home by selling plants. I swear, she’s the one making some real bank everyday by super selling the rare fruits making the family filthy rich 💀💀
I wonder if I should make all of them quit their job.. but most of them almost reach the top of the carrer so idk anymore.. 😂
Being a spell caster with herbio and copypasta is the best gardener. Kill plants via take cutting anf revive with herbio. With that evolution is 100% after revival and repeat till perfect quality. Then copypasta the plant. Just move it via build mode.
Graft anything to Sage and you can harvest it year round

It’s strange how similar 3 and 4 are. It’s been so long since I played 4 that I can’t remember which is which. I’m back into it though and as usual, Carl has the best tutorials on the internet. I’ve been using his charts and tutorials since Sims 2. Cheers, Carl. Thanks for the years of dedication and hard work.

I came here because I need to revive my baby daddy. He literally yelled "pizza!" While having s*x, got up, chocked on laughter and died.
I found that if you get a money tree and graft it on to other plants you can harvest them and get money fruit instead of selling it then plant those and make a garden of them making tons of money every day just have to sell the fruit
For the greenhouse to function as well as when outdoors, just keep the bottom dirt instead of a floor and put a thermostat in it, keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer and your plants will grow perfectly. Love this video, I have made many Sims very wealthy off my gardens.

Is there a reason why my plants would start misting green gas, when I can’t dispose of them like other dead plants?
If you purposely or accidentally plant under an upper floor overhang the game will count it as sheltered, allowing you to grow in the ground year round

Any tips on how to harvest the plants from different locations? I mean, sometimes I find a plant that I don’t have yet and they are not ready to harvest.. I don’t know when is the right time to travel to get new plants
