I live in GA too. I’ve never tried Patty Pan squash, I’ll have to try growing it. Do you have a good recipe for them? Enjoyed your video. Your daughter is adorable.

Georgia in the house!!! Good to see my people having fun in the garden!

  4. william mcduff on July 31, 2021 at 8:21 pm

Quite the garden you have going there. Just a heads up on the squash plants and also cucumbers are heavy feeders so adding some manure or good compost around the plant helps the production. The okra gets attacked by aphids so maybe some netting or some deterrent plants might help.

Thank you so much for this video! We have so much in common! A daughter, locs, healthcare field and I specifically would like to move to GA for a new start. Would you be able to suggest any areas that are about 1 hour away from the Atlanta area that would allow me to garden? I love newer built homes but I am trying to stay away from HOA’s since their list of disapproaving activities often include gardening, smh.

    Hey Nikki… question.
I am also in GA, 7b and we will be starting our garden soon. However, we are contemplating raised beds because of the heavy clay soil here. 😳

Did you amend your soil before planting? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks☺️

Subscribed by the way. Also a Georgia gardener. We don’t own our own house yet and covid has everything messed up. So we are staying with my parents which is cool because I get to garden here again. Can’t wait to create an awesome food forest in my yard one day. When I get big I’ll create a YouTube for it. 🙃

  41. S Clark on July 31, 2021 at 9:10 pm

I love your garden!!! Your plants look so healthy! What do you do to keep pests at bay? I’m trying to use organic-friendly stuff like Bt spray, and diatomaceous earth, but still having issues. I also love your tunnels btw! I see people using cattle panels, but they are too big and heavy for me to do alone (single girl, no pickup truck!) I do have a roll of this type of fence though, and some little posts. Maybe I can use that! And of course you have such a great helper! 🙂 Hi from Zone 8b in AL!

  42. Tannisha Lennon on July 31, 2021 at 9:11 pm

Your garden is beautiful. I am trying to grow my own garden as well but not sure how to amend the soil. What do you use to start your garden and what to use as a soil amendment. Please help.

  50. Victor Wadsworth on July 31, 2021 at 9:16 pm

I remember picking peas with my mema on 23rd street in Mineral Wells, Texas when I was this little girl’s age. We picked along the fence until it got dark & mema sent me into the house.
