Free Adjustable Planting Schedule

Free Adjustable Planting Schedule

In my last podcast with guest Author Lee Reich we discussed a planting schedule in his book “Weedless Gardening” that I had turned into an excel table. The table automatically calculates planting dates relative to the last frost dates in your area. In this video I walk through how to download, use, and interpret that table.

Thanks for that walk-through, Greg. Is there any way to add on vegetables? A lot of what I’m planning to grow this year is missing from that table.

This is a cool idea. I made one for myself a few years ago using planting data from Niki Jabbourโ€™s book. I only included vegetables I actually plant. I find the planting dates for a โ€œfallโ€ garden font work for me, and I think thatโ€™s because I have a shady garden.

    Hi Greg,

I just sent you a similar sheet from OYR. His Excel sheet actually is 3 in one. one for no cover, one for a single layer of cover and one for double cover. You should try this one, it has a more extensive range of options.

Hi Greg, I’ve been exercising some will power. I don’t watch you videos until I’m close to bursting then I binge watch….fabulous! Thank you so much for this table. I already did your garden plan…such fun. Being the instant gratification kinda gal that I am, I added another colunm to this chart which I labelled days to maturity. Which is something I always look for on any pack of seeds I buy.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Gives me something to look forward to, and a general feeling of moving towards a goal. Thanks again, Stella

Greg, it’s a great way to organize your planting schedule, the only problem I have is how variable the weather is now days. Where I live (fort Erie, Ontario), the is little to no data that I can find that is recent enough to be relavent. So it’s a bit of a struggle each year to know when to start plants inside, when to transplant and when to direct seed. Love your videos! Keep it up. I’ve been thinking about starting a channel for my area as I can’t seem to find any out there. Any tips?

Great spreadsheet! Some feedback. I would love a version of this with the dates set up just for direct sowing. Also, when I printed this the grey lines turned white and then the yellow text was hard to read. I can fix it but I’m familiar with Excel. I haven’t finished watching the vid but hopefully you mention using landscape mode if you print it to get it all on one page.
