Easy Water Feature Without the Cost

Easy Water Feature Without the Cost

Using a bit of improvisation, I built an effective water feature from items found in our shed and around the garden.

Luckily, I had an old pump and some pebbles but these items would be much cheaper to buy than buying a ready made water feature.

I have posted this video to inspire people get creative and turn what they may see as rubbish and clutter into great garden focal points.

We get the gist. Love the gate swinging closed! Thanks for showing the principles and how simple it can be.

I think its a good start! I’m looking to disguise a flat basin for a humming bird bath and I have tons of rocks round my yard! I will use this idea and expand on it! Thanks! I’d rather have this than some fake cement fountain. It’s also called improvisation. Some people dont have a whole lot of money to spend like on some posts keep telling people to get a diamond saw and use ceramic pots and on and on? For all that money you can buy a permanent one! Every one is critical. You give it a try and lets see what you do?!!

Good job, just add some potted plants & maybe a garden angel and a solar light. Gives me an ideal of what to do with the same style of large pot, now just to find a crate for the top or even yet i may add a water lily.

It’s a nice clear explanation thank you. The thing I like about this video is that it is the most basic possible version and it can inspire you to do something with whatever you have. You could mess about with the basic principle to make your own version.

Thank you! I just bought a new pump and the water hose idea is great. I’m going for more of a bubbling Brook sound but love the basics you gave us.

  27. Per Shop on October 25, 2021 at 10:48 am

That’s not quite fair because we may not be able to find an old pump in our shed. However, at least the other things may be stuff from around the yard….though I was surprised to see you just cut your water hose!

  28. 6lr6ak6 on October 25, 2021 at 10:50 am

A good cheap no fuss water feature.

  29. Peter Wyatt on October 25, 2021 at 10:53 am

Thank you so much for this really clear & easy guide to making your own water feature! We took your basic ideas & tweaked them a bit, and now have a really effective and attractive water feature in our garden in Norfolk, all for less than Β£30 – brilliant!

    Perfect , thank you .

  36. MoreMike on October 25, 2021 at 11:00 am

I want to try this it would be so cool if instead of putting it through a tea light holder make it more of a cliff look and have the water running over the rocks so it would look like a real water fall

What a waste of water. I assume it just overflows all over the mud, washing that away and looking a nasty mess?

Nice plug into a 230 socket outside lol

  49. TaffytheGreat on October 25, 2021 at 11:11 am

It’s funny how you just happens to have lying around. A Sieve that fits the bucket. Well you’re right, it is cheap. It’s nice the sound of running water although there’s no real feature πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
