    nice little video. you are probably gonna want to anchor that fountain in the middle. other wise it may end up on the side of the barrel and pumping water out onto the ground.

    looks nice but your water is cloudy. You can use a bacteria starter to get a nice biosystem going. keep the water clear. Also something like lavastones to let the bacteria settle. it will also help feed the plants. Im also starting this just now and have the same barrel! hope it goes well. yours looks really nice:)

    If you don’t put some oxygenating plants into the water it will likely turn stagnant over time, or you can buy a solar powered air pump for it…these aren’t expensive and there’s loads of them on Amazon. I know pond lilies aren’t cheap but I’d rather see a living plant in the water rather then anything plastic. I live in the UK, and have just made a pond barrel as well. The cost of the barrel, 7 plants in water baskets, and a solar air pump cost just under Β£100.
