Pineapple mint! Yum! And Chamomile!
Where did you get that crate?
I love this video π you are so pretty π
Such a beautiful lady and I really love the idea I will be planting in some mason jars lavender, basil, lemon balm, coriander, parsley and more.
the roots will die theyre not supposed to see light
you look just like @emmymadeinjapan
So want to do this, I’ve got to find some herbs!I’ll probably do this in my kitchenπ±πΎπ
I have lived in an apartment and grown things on a balcony for more than two decades and I am sure of one thing, that "inside draining system" of yours will NOT work, simply because it isn’t a draining system, it does not drain away moisture, it just gives you a bit of moisture storage underneath the roots. All it takes, is one real downpur and your whole mason jar can be filled to the top with water. It is NO fun having to turn pots upside down while you try to drain the water only, at least not too much of your soil. I would strongly recommend that people stay away from using mason jars, it will so easily end out causing a lot of frustration and regrets… πΒ
No, I know mason jars are in these days, they give the right retro, recycled look and all, but try to find and recycle some terracotta pots instead, those have proper draining holes. Or, buy some reasonable zinc pots/buckets, use a nail or an awl and a hammer to make drainage holes in the bottom and put those in those pretty boxes you made, it will look and work GREAT! I LOVE your boxes, would love a few myself! Looks so much better than most commercial ones! I think I’d go with zinc buckets/pots in the boxes myself, as it is light, cheap, gets a great matte patina after a little while and it tolerates frost, which is real important many places, including where I live where we have a long winter which can get real cold… π Have lots of fun with your herb garden, people! π
that is such a great idea, thank you!
Mason jars look cool and all but how does it actually drain? the water will still be collected at the bottom. After a few waterings wouldn’t the water level rise into the soil?
Loved your video, plant Oregano next. God Bless you.
Hello HGTV i have been having problems with the potting charcoal!!!?? I went to wal-mart,Home-Depot and nothing…… Where i can find it ?
Hey! Thanks for sharing. Yes, Mason Jars are very useful. I use 4 and 5 liters jars and paint them with chalked paint and grow hot pepper plants. Cheers

How do you fertilize your mason jar herbs?
I’ve started collecting different kinds of mints: sweet mint, spearmint, apple mint, peppermint, just for something different to try.
how big are your jars
Good Ideaβ£οΈ thanks
this is SAD! you didn’t grow them plants, you didn’t build the garden box….. so you painted it and added some name tags.. WOW….
Where do you get the brackets
Favorite herbs? Let’s see–there’s wolfsbane, deadly nightshade and of course, mandrake! Just kidding.
I like basil (lots of this for pesto) rue, dittany of Crete, white sage, rosemary and golden thyme. Thanks for sharing.
Rue and Thai Basil are amazing. I highly recommend them.
how do they drain
My concens here would be root rot/mold with that "drainage system" but also I eould be concerned about them getting root bound since those are pretty tight containers for plants of that size.
You are awesome… I’ll start mine. I’ll keep you posted.
Great idea π Love the setup. New sub can’t wait to see more of your videos.
I picked up chocolate mint from Walmart 2 or 3 days ago. smells like a York candy bar. yummy
cute project. but you really need to add draining holes not to end up with mildew. herbs need to drain. easily done with glass drill bits from amazon; just attach to drill and attack that mason jar base!
Great video and really cute! Bonus to receive the benefits of these great herbs not only for culinary, but also for medicinal uses. Also Sage and some other herbs are great for making smudge sticks, decorations and they smell wonderful! When you prune them back you can chop them up and fill ice cube trays and add a little water, once frozen put in ziplock bag and label it.
i love all the hints and suggestions for growing herbs thanks SO MUCH XXX
Thank You πΏππΌπππΏππ€

Plant lavender, basil, lemon balm, peppermint, rosemary and/or sage to repel mosquitoes on your balcony. Double duty.
Basil, oregano, thyme
Great vid! π€π½
don’t expose roots to light… it will slow their progress
Your voice, while narrating, is very calming, thank you.
This is the cutest idea I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much!!!!
My Only complaint No Captions on your video for your hearing impaired audience
I found that the best time of day to water in a dry climate is in the evening. In a humid climate like I live in now, morning is best.
is it possible to grow in india
where do you even get shelf brackets like that that you don’t have to drill? I’ve looked at all the lowes, home depot near me and online lmao
This is amazing thank you so much. As a novice to herbalism and starting my at home mini garden in my kitchen this video was so helpful and the tips you provided in caring for the herbs. Thank you, brilliant!
How neat and super sweet, question should these be kept inside during rainy days ?
Thanks so much for very smart herb gardening tips
And small lavender and lemongrass. By small lavender, I mean keep it clipped short.
Can anyone help? I’d like those exact plant hangers brackets to use on our patio but I can’t find them.
