Thanks – I am about to do this for my garden but am bamboozled by the different kinds of tubing out there – and mesh/net sizings.
Good idea about the split pipe clips.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what are the cheapest and entirely adequate options as I have a large garden.
All piping is PE but is called all sorts of names for different uses. What is best for use in the garden ie flexible enough to bend without kinking , stable enough to leave outside all year,
Here in the UK blue MDPE piping is used a lot in allotments but I favour less obtrusive black.

What mesh size is a good one for all -round protection against carrot fly, butterflies and the usual troublesome critters.
Does the mesh prevent slugs too? or are they too slinky to be bothered and anyway, their eggs are already present in the soil somewhere so too late most likely.
