I totally agree… When I took horticulture in High School many many years ago we were told to call it" S O I L".
Because "dirt" is soil where it doesn’t belong… and a weed is an unwanted plant.
Thank you for stating your preference. I plant my "seed" in soil to grow vegetables. lol

When you think about it, children are taught the word dirt as it relates to dirty, grimy, nasty stuff. The word soil should be emphasized in school and recognized for its value to life in general. Maybe more kids would play in the soil. 🙌
