Get ahead by sowing seeds on windowsills or in greenhouses, tunnels and cold frames while it’s still too early to plant outdoors.
In this short video we’ll show you how to successfully sow seeds under cover, step by step.

Do you have any recommendations for how to make a cold frame? It appears that you have a gorgeous greenhouse. Can you do a cold frame on a tiny townhouse lot? Or can you tell us more about effecctively using grow lights?
Thankyou for the subtitles 🙂
👋😊
we are trying with lettuce, radish and carrots atm
5:18 did I just see socks with sandals lol
I absolutely love these videos, thank you
Your language is classical.
At this time of year in the UK, can I plants seeds outdoors straight away?
A great ‘no nonsense’ and no waffle ‘how to’ video. Now I don’t have to make my own!!!
Thanks for this vid. Very helpful. Love the Growveg Planner. Have altered 2020 plans at least a dozen times over the previous months and the Planner makes it so easy. A brilliant invention. Now waiting for several tons of well-rotted manure so that I can begin my first big season in earnest. Keep up the good work. Best wishes and a good growing season to all at Growveg. Paul
What a fantastic video for the beginner gardener great tips how to sow thanks
Time to start thinking of that again. How about a short video on proper seed storage? I keep mine sealed in the fridge.
i cannot wait to plant!!!
Enjoy your videos. Informative and good presentation. Happy gardening.
Great video with some very useful information I was wondering if carrot seeds could be put into individual seed trays then be replanted outside when they have grown about 5 or6 inches
Its so satisfying to watch you plant. I am at college currently and can’t plant any of my own, so I just have to be content with watching others do it. Thank you!
excellent ,straight forward instruction. thanks.
I am so glad that I have found your channel. very informative video.

WHo is the rude person giving the thumbs down? Maybe this community isnt a good match for you. REst of us LOVE this site and learning other ppl ideas
😀 Fantastic video. One positive to this devastating virus, has been seeing so many people growing crops. 😀
I have tried planting seeds during the winter too. as a Winter Seed Sowing! thou because I never tried it before. I planted them in December in containers and left them outside. to see what would happen in the spring.
Hey, I’ve been trying to germinate seeds in the dark, had success with first batch: broad beans, tomatoes, cabbage and kale. Second batch is courgette, cucumber, squash, climbing beans and sweetcorn and not going so well! Any tips? Maybe it’s because it’s gotten a little colder?
Thank you for the inspiration to get going!
Great video so helpful thanks!
When filling soil in trays, could I water them first and then place the seeds in after?
Thank you
Great video mate, thanks heaps!!
Thank you! I am excited to get started. I really enjoy the planner an how it shows when to sow seeds. The seed companies try to help me by sending them at the right times, but I still would have tried to sow my watermelons and pumpkins along with my herbs and would have ended up with gigantic plants and too much transplanting.
I grew petunias from seed and they grew fine, but after I put them in baskets they died after about a month.I bought some and again the same thing happened would you have any idea why this happened.
Thanks
Did you get the idea of sowing seeds in multiples from Charles Downings YouTube page? He’s been doing it for years and this is the first time I’ve seen you present growing plants in multiples.
It’s my first year with a propogator so I’m very excited indeed! Have some little onion sprouts coming through now. 🙂 Thanks for the tips as usual, guys!
Really enjoyed your video. Where are you located? My farm is in a place called Nichols SC US. About 100 people live there. I’ve been planting things for a long time, but good ideas continue to come along. I’ll be watching all of your videos to pick up more pieces of wisdom. Well done.

Built my first raised bed as per your instructions just today!!!…..so excited…its nearly spring!! 🙂
Brilliant, really looking forward to your next video
This time I will use Woodglut plans for this.
I was looking at grow lights on the web and found a lot of LED lamps that combine red and blue light. Can you recommend those? I see your lights imitate regular sunlight and I haven’t seen Amy YouTube’s using the red/blue/magenta ones.
Awww…it was exciting to think of a new growing season. Thanks for brightening my day.
A very nice look at the early days of growing. I will now give you the absolute in sowing medium. Get a worm farm. Here in Oz they eventually all die of heat. Let them and leave the worm farm for two years, The soil will be the best seedling nursery material bar none. I have seen seeds sprout after 12 hours in this medium. The average is two days and these were for perenials. Watered down medium is an equally amazing fertilser. Give it a try, you will have difficulty believing the speed at which sprouting occurs. Happy gardening to all.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for to help new veg gardeners on a Covid19 support group page. Love the clear, easy to follow instructions. Thank you!
