9 Types of Berry Bushes to grow in your Garden
9 Types of Berry Bushes to grow in your Garden
Probably the easiest thing to grow in the garden are berry bushes and plants. They’re mainly perennial, meaning they re-grow every year, and most are relatively low maintenance. The main thing you really need to worry about is picking the fruit before the birds get them.
In this film I introduce you to nine different berries that I grow in my allotment garden. Some may be familiar but I’ll bet there’s at least one type that you’ve not seen before. Let me know which one it is for you as a comment below. Or if you knew (or maybe grow) all of them let me know that as well.
More questions for you:
1. Do you have any further information on Jostaberry Leaf Netting? Or do you think that the leaves infected might be White Pine Blister? I’m finding it difficult to ID the issue.
2. What are your thoughts on the simple raspberry support system?

Very nice garden..the bamboo works well with the berry supports..
You have rust mold on your serviceberry tree. It happens when there is too much humidity present. A lot of the serviceberries here on Newfoundland island are covered in it – Making them somewhat hard to find.

Because I watched this video last year, I bought some pineberries! I didn’t know what they were but they sounded delicious and interesting. I planted 6 plants last year, later in the season. They have already multiplied into additional plants, but no berries yet. I am hoping to have some berries this summer and I can’t wait to try them! Thank you for the wonderful content. I love your garden!
Love them. Only knew the black; blue and strawberries.reg ones. I have a tall plant that is flowering all over but don’t know what it id????
The white strawberry I didn’t know. Strawberry always comes in red but never white.
What type of netting do you use? Thanks. Does it have a special name?
Not sure where you are located, but you need some Salmonberries in that beautiful yard. I Have a small back yard that I am attempting to turn into berryland, haha. I am also familiar with all the berries shown here, thanks to my time living in Poland, where gooseberries and currants were pretty much in everyone’s yards. Jostaberries are in my bucket list.
very nice
I’m no master gardener but when I hear of mildewy leaf blight like issues like that, the culprit Usually seems to be either 1 of 2 general issues: soil fertility and/or ph, so perhaps tinkering with composted ashes, lime, pine needles or something to fix a possible mineral deficiency? yadda yadda
And I’m a bit of a plant nerd and have heard of all those berries, yet I haven’t had the opportunity yo taste a gooseberry or Pinkberry yet (I don’t think anybody grows them around here, ugh.
Like nobody that I know of has PayPal trees and I would looooove to try one, yet word is they don’t seem to ship all that great.
People that grow them describe the flavor like a yummy custardy banana. sigh
knew them all
Hi
Josta is a new one for me? how does it taste?
Hello, What Is An Allotment?? I Heard Of It Ounce Before, From England, But I Don’t Know What You Mean. Im From The Old Days. Thank You.
If itโs a bacteria/fungus disease on those berries use h202 formula to spray on it.
Putting currant in liquor? Just ferment the currant fruits by adding yeast, sugar and grape juice to it. LOL Don’t use wood chips. Very soon you can’t get any free wood chips, just like you can’t get any free Starbucks coffee ground any more. LOL Grow your own organic matter. Let your grass and weed grow to their full potential. Then harvest them as your organic matter. LOL LOL
Thank u theyโre gorgeous
Do you grow Aronia berries? Wondering how to start them other than buying a plant
The white strawberry.
That was most informative, and I really liked your support system!

Hi What type of soil do you use This is my first time growing gooseberries and current and I wanted to know how can I get a high guild
"If they are rockhard, leave them on the bush"
Odd.. That was _exactly_ what some blackbirds told me to do………๐ค
All the starlings where nodding..
Inspiring! Must get pine berries!
I just discovered your video, "Lovely Greens." It is both delightful and richly informative. I have one small suggestion, however. Please add some typed captions with plant names printed on the screen, and permit them to linger on the screen throughout your discussion of that particular plant. Not all of us enjoy English as a first language, and are a bit challenged trying to transform the spoken word to the written.
Thank you,
Michael
Could you send me some cuttings I have had no luck whatsoever growing berries and I have dreamed about it for 4 years now nada
Most perennial berries like Potassium, so you might want to top dress the Jostaberries w/ well composted horse manure to strengthen them for the following year. I would definitely remove the affected leaves and apply some copper to limit fungal growth.
I’ll pick this chick when she’s squishy
All these berries might be good for jam but im still jelly.
pick off as many of those bad leaves, not all at once. over a few weeks, and throw them far away like in the bin, then it will get better.
Primeark freedoms are the best black berries ever! Huge berries on thornless primocanes.
Great video, thank you.
Bossenberries ? Largish berrries.

Has anyone got a solution to getting rid of "Field Horsetail" or "Mares Tail". my garden is absolutely full of it. It makes gardening extremely difficult and frustrating. If you dig it out, within a few days its all sprouting up again. I read somewhere that the roots can go down as much as nine feet. most of what I grow is done in containers, but I would love to grow vegetables in other parts of the garden. if anyone has a solution I would be glad to hear it. Thanks for reading.
use neem spray on them
Hi Iโm in Southern California. Iโve only heard of half of these berries. Thank you for sharing your beautiful crops.
