A lot of the big box stores have Fungus Gnat infestations….I almost always bring my plant home, throw the old soil away, neem spray and repot in fresh soil! It helps ALOT!

I have gnats at home and I have no single plant in my house, why do I have them? can someone write me multiple reasons? because I can’t find any answer everyone on youtube is having gnats on their house plants and I have them just like that and it makes me sick :'(

  3. Shelby Russell on September 1, 2021 at 12:48 am

Omg why tf do you edit soo damn much

  4. katt dejager on September 1, 2021 at 12:48 am

brilliant. I dumped all my plants last year because of gnats. Now all my new plants which were gnat free are full of gnats since I opened my windows in the spring. My apt in ground floor. Figures. So thanks for your info. You have saved my plants. Love you. Katt

  5. belllaaa on September 1, 2021 at 12:51 am

another option you didn’t list (i don’t think) is systemic granules, bonide has them. gnats aren’t listed on the front but if you open the label they’re on the list!

  6. J B on September 1, 2021 at 12:51 am

Unfortunately Mosquito bits aren’t available in Canada.

  8. davewmusic on September 1, 2021 at 12:52 am

Water mixed with peroxide is ALL you need. Spray it on the top of your soil, it kills larva and eggs.. I grow marijuana, so knats love to ruin my plants. Dollar tree peroxide, it’s really that simple.

  9. Breanna Bean on September 1, 2021 at 12:52 am

Cinnamon! My favorite fungus gnat deterrent is cinnamon — a natural fungicide and insects hate it. Plus it makes your house smell amazing!

Mosquito bits or gnatrol, fungus gnat predator, sticky traps and stop over watering.

  13. bonjovirocks24 on September 1, 2021 at 12:54 am

Best way to get rid of gnats in house plants:
    1. Repot with new soil (even in existing pot). Throw the soil in a garbage bag and seal tightly, to dispose of eggs, larva and junior gnats in the soil.
    2. Spray roots with Garden Safe Insecticidal Soap. Make sure to spray in the remaining soil on the roots.
    3. Refill pot with new soil, making about 1.5 inches for room on the top of soil for sand.
    4. Add a thick layer of 1.5” – 2” of sand. Pat down to keep it tightly packed.
    5. Water the plant. If sand moves to expose soil, add more sand at the top.
I tried everything and couldn’t get rid of gnats in my plants, until I tried this method with sand. This worked, no more gnats going on 2 months. Gnats can’t dig into tightly packed sand, nor can larvae or gnats crawl up through the sand if packed tightly.

  17. Jacob Miranda on September 1, 2021 at 1:01 am

I repotted my plants. Baked the soil at 275 for 45, let it cool, re plant and water with dish soap for about a week. That killed the whole issue. After a recent propagation with a new plant, I have to re start the process.

  18. Dani Davis on September 1, 2021 at 1:01 am

I found those sticky things on Amazon and put them in all of my dieffenbachia plants. They get filled up quickly but they still won’t go away!!

  19. Kevin Luo on September 1, 2021 at 1:02 am

I find that they flare up during the summer. Like other cold-blooded insects, they thrive in warmer temperatures.

  20. Maggie Lloyd on September 1, 2021 at 1:03 am

I just watched my first video of yours. Easiest house plants, I laughed so hard over the comment of the baby goat whisperer that I forgot the name of the plants!🤣🤣🤣 so now I’m subscribing love your personality! Thx I needed that.

  21. Alexander Moore on September 1, 2021 at 1:03 am

    Very very helpful thanks!

  22. S on September 1, 2021 at 1:05 am

Just found this after googling this issue. What happens when you let your plants dry out (to kill the gnats) but your plants suffer? I’m using the sticky traps but it doesn’t look very nice with all the bugs attached. 🙈

  23. Sandra Weber on September 1, 2021 at 1:05 am

    What about diatomaceous earth?

  26. NPC 123 on September 1, 2021 at 1:12 am

In Swedish, they are called grief-mosquitos.

  27. Raj Patel on September 1, 2021 at 1:15 am

There’s nothing quite like spraying an airborne fungus gnat and watching it fall to the floor as I continue spraying it and laughing maniacally.

  28. king thunder on September 1, 2021 at 1:15 am

I actually don’t have fungas nats but I do have stupid spider mites on my outside plants so it’s anoying

Is the neem oil safe for food plants/trees?

  30. Mirja Hård on September 1, 2021 at 1:19 am

    Finally a video I don’t have to watch in 1.25 speed 😀

  31. Martha V on September 1, 2021 at 1:20 am

I like your videos but please, record more at once, all those cuts between every sentence you’re telling is a little bit annoying…

  32. Tizio on September 1, 2021 at 1:22 am

I’ve tried all the solutions. Traps seem to just catch the adults going out for a stroll after they’re done laying tons of eggs.
Neem oil and insect soap seemed to slow them down a bit, but regular application still didn’t eliminate them.
Mosquito bits seem to have the longest term impact but I found that the gnats will still come back if I let the soil dry all the way out then water it again.
I think the only solution left is to burn the house down and start from scratch.

  33. ABN on September 1, 2021 at 1:24 am

How about you come take care of them for me. Pretty please😂

  35. Neli Crnkovič on September 1, 2021 at 1:27 am

This is the best video regarding the topic, i just used neem oil on my palm tree (bad case of fungus gnats), i first removed some of the top soil and watered the rest with neem oil then i topped it off with a fresh dry layer of soil and just sprayed it with neem oil but i will definitely be adding some decorative stones and start bottom planting to prevent this from happening again

  40. robar74 on September 1, 2021 at 1:30 am

I have a terrible fungus gnat problem. Trying to get rid of them with the vinegar method for the past 2 months but it doesn’t seem to work. Would you recommend the hydrogen peroxide method next? I am on a serious budget and need the cheapest but most effective method after the vinegar method.

  41. UwU is cringe #prayforturkeyandothers on September 1, 2021 at 1:31 am

5:28 those also help with fruit flies.

  42. Joe Cochrane on September 1, 2021 at 1:34 am

Have you tried a combination of Neem Oil and Mosquito bits? Leaving around a cup of Mosquito bits and in the bottom of a spray bottle then adding a few teaspoons of Neem oil. Letting it soak for a few hours then shaking it up and spraying the leaves as well as the soil. I have fugus gnats sitting on the leaves of my Meyers Lemon and tree soakinv some rays and in my soil everywhere. I’ve tried soaking the soil and leaves for a few weeks but they always return or hatch. I leave the tree outdoors all the time for sun in the summer months. Just can’t seem to get rid of them. Haven’t tried ghe Mosquito bits plus Neem oil yet. Think it will work or is that overkill? Don’t want to kill my Meyers Lemon tree.

  47. Amber Millard on September 1, 2021 at 1:39 am

I have the worst soil gnat infestation In many plants 🪴. I purchased mosquito bits and really want to use it. Why does the back of container have such scary warnings. Is there really a safety concern with using this product? I have kids and just want to keep it as safe and natural as possible.
Thank you for all of you videos and info.❤️

  48. Anthony Lawson on September 1, 2021 at 1:39 am

I love the sticky traps! I have them! They work great! I also use neem oil when needed! Also any plant that is more prone to bugs…example and Ivy
..I use a watered down neem oil spray for misting! Works great!

  49. Tanya Rizza on September 1, 2021 at 1:41 am

I just bought some new plants and noticed a few tiny bugs so I’ve been researching a bunch for getting rid of house pests. I just purchased neem oil. However, I might buy the mosquito bits for extra precaution. Thank you for sharing this info for newbie plant mamas like me ☺️

  50. Rebecca Henderson on September 1, 2021 at 1:43 am

I’ve always had a couple of plants & in Spring 2019 I bought 100 -150 plants and soon had about 1,000+ gnats, for real and sticky traps in ever plant. Then Spring 2020 I started spraying the top soil directly with full strength 3% Hydrogen Peroxide & Infestation dropped to 10-20. Spring 2021, I ‘only’ bottom water (and my plants actually love it & are much healthier!!) gnats down to 1 or 2 – whenever I see top soil starting to look a bit gray or a spot of gray – I spray soil directly with Peroxide.
