About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on YouTube videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

Hey Jason and Loraine, there is an herb called "Round leaf Papalo " which tastes like cilantro with a touch of lime. It grows during the warm days of summer.

  5. b Hanson on October 12, 2021 at 9:30 am

Thank you…another excellent video, and very helpful!! I want to grow just about everything, but will have to wait until I can move (hopefully soon), and then only have room for a few pots. I loved seeing Penelope riding her bike around. Reminds me of the fun I had as a girl, riding bikes on the farm property I grew up on. Blessings to you all, and good health! 🥰🚲💞🌱🌿💗🥬👍🥦👏❣

  14. MandyGal Grows on October 12, 2021 at 9:38 am

This was my first year successfully growing cilantro and having it fresh on hand is seriously the best.

I’m learning. Had first garden last year. Tomatoes and Swiss chard did best for me. Trying more things this year. Hope I’m blessed to get good at it.

  23. TKA Art on October 12, 2021 at 9:51 am

I plant radishes in between my kale and chard rows because they are ready to harvest in 22-26 days typically. Maximizes space and you will pull our radishes before Kale takes off. I extend my Kale season by using a shade cover or pick leaves really young. I’m in Zone 8b in GA. and our last frost date is April 1, but we have had warm 80’s to low 70’s in the day and 50’s to 70’s at night. I already direct sowed alot of stuff. No frost coming this year before then! Cilantro is tricky here….tends to bolt quick. I will plant it in pots in my wooded area for early spring to summer plant so it will not bolt so quick.

  26. 07Negative on October 12, 2021 at 9:53 am

I grow radishes pretty much only for grazing purposes. Salad green mix, arugula, carrots, peas, kale(s), chard, collards, parsnips, and squash are started, peppers, tomatoes, all started.

Thank you for your advice and video

  48. Jerry B on October 12, 2021 at 10:19 am

I interplant radish with my other crops. They are well ready to harvest before the other crops. I’m in California’s Central Valley and have left a couple in my front bed that are getting ready to bloom (free seeds).

  49. Collette Landwer on October 12, 2021 at 10:23 am

I’ve always grown tomatoes in containers on our patio, but geared up for a couple of raised beds his year. We’re getting snow tonight, so the wood will have to wait. Wish I’d have bought it before CV, at least I could have started cutting it out and placing it … it WILL get done ! 😊

I like it when I can watch an entire YouTube post and not find anything that I disagree with or that is outright wrong.
You guys are a joy to watch.
