Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark ๐Ÿ™‚

Mate, I live in northern coastal suburb of Perth and you missed out on my favourite fruit ever. They’re meant to grow wherever a lemon grows. They’re one fruit I don’t share. And what about figs mate??? They’re so expensive to buy you have to grow your own. I’ve just subscribed and was wondering if you’ve ever done anything on Mediterranean fruit fly control.

Plums get absolutely smashed by fruit-flies. But some people do spray their fruit with insecticieds to prevent them.
