This is a great help, I have just moved house in the UK and the property has a huge mature garden! I have never had a garden before so I have a lot of work and learning to do. I love your videos, I have watched them all and am sure I will be re watching them over the coming months for help and inspiration. They are so informative and professionally done. Thank you

I picked up the Atlas gloves recently thanks to this video and they are so comfortable. And they actually fit my little hands!

  4. Mermaid Scorpio on November 8, 2021 at 12:17 pm

    I love that rake!!

  5. Anita Hadley on November 8, 2021 at 12:17 pm

I came looking for the size of gloves you use and here you are with an answer! Great timing because I need a new pair. I love the hand tool that is two sided. I’m not sure what it’s called but it has like a flat, hoe like side and then a rake side. We have hard soul with a lot of roots so when I’m weeding Or loosening the soil for planting I can hack through the roots.

I like to use my whip and boomerang in the garden

    a metal fiskars troul!

  8. At0micAllison on November 8, 2021 at 12:21 pm

LOL, I clicked on the link in the description for the adjustable rake, and found that under that item on Amazon is a 15 page list of what "other people who bought this item also bought." EVERYTHING on the first page is from this video. The next 4 pages are ALL stuff we’ve seen Laura recommend by name in other videos. I am so tickled seeing evidence of how much trust the viewers on this channel have in the advice they receive here. (I also consider Garden Answer a remarkable resource for my gardening knowledge!)

  9. maureen gee on November 8, 2021 at 12:22 pm

Yes I got a rake like that at the dollar store.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Wilcox All Pro 22" Stainless Steel Garden Trowel. Bought it a number of years ago at a Mother Earth News Fair. An Amazing Trowel.
    Take Care.

You really do get attached to the tools you use. I prefer the felcos as well as atlas nitrile gloves. I wear a size small and wear them every time I work in the yard, perfect gloves!

  16. sandeep yerunkar on November 8, 2021 at 12:29 pm

    Good

  17. Andrea Tao on November 8, 2021 at 12:36 pm

Along with my felco 2s, I am always in the garden with my hori hori. Great for precise digging, cutting roots, opening bags of soil/mulch, and breaks by up clay!

  18. Cindy Holman on November 8, 2021 at 12:36 pm

Thanks for all the info on the favorites. I order the gloves should be in soon can’t wait to use them. I like the rake idea, need to get one!!

  19. Marcy Griffo on November 8, 2021 at 12:37 pm

Laura, I went to Amazon to pick up some of these and I’m a little confused. I wear size small gloves. Some Amazon reviewers said the F6 were for smaller hands and others said the handles are the same size, but the F6 is for pruning smaller diameter things. Do you know which is true? I think I want the F2 if they are the same size. THANK YOU.

  20. End User on November 8, 2021 at 12:37 pm

I can’t live without a shovel, wheel barrel, hand saw, and 18 inch pruners. I use "mechanix" gloves, but also do lawn mower and shop stuff…liked!

  21. Denise Wolff on November 8, 2021 at 12:38 pm

What type of kneeler is best? I saw you use a blue round pad to kneel on in another video.

  22. Julie Hinkel on November 8, 2021 at 12:41 pm

Three years later and I have purchased all but the hand saw. Love them.

  23. Chanelle on November 8, 2021 at 12:41 pm

    So helpful! Thanks so much!

  24. nay282 on November 8, 2021 at 12:41 pm

can you do a video about how to stop invasive plants from taking over your garden? are there any tips or trick on how to do it beside just pulling them out all the time…maybe a permanent solution to stop them from spreading?

  25. radicalaccounting on November 8, 2021 at 12:42 pm

Loppers are at the top of my list. So much fun to use, lol.

For the larger branches, I wish I had seen this video before about the pruning saw. Would have saved me lots of money on a reciprocating saw that was expensive and isn’t very satisfactory, but I had to have something for the larger branches. Live and learn, lol.

I recently found Japanese gardening tools at a local Asian grocery store. One is a 10 inch pine handled small garden sycthe that is sharp as **** and the other is a hand-held steel triangular headed trowel. I oiled them both with Mineral oil before using and after. That trowel can do anything: cut a deep furrow for planting, weeding out surface weeds or deeply rooted dandelions. They are savage looking pieces of garden weaponry and I love them! $10!!!

  27. Eli Hugs on November 8, 2021 at 12:46 pm

Hi Laura!!! I bought the gloves AND they are AWESOME!!! Appreciate 🙂

  28. Reetika Naruka on November 8, 2021 at 12:50 pm

Hey Laura, Which Rose Pruning gloves would you recommend as I have little helpers who complain a lot about thorns,TIA!

  29. salsarme Mimi on November 8, 2021 at 12:52 pm

I have my pruners hidden. If I don’t they seem to be taken by others in my home and I can find them. I also hide my box cutter and small tool box. I looked at those gloves, they look great, although on Amazon, it looks as though they only carry small, I think I would need medium. Thanks for the tool tips, Blessings to you from Texas.

  30. Digzinthedirt Northwest landscape design on November 8, 2021 at 12:52 pm

Have you ever tried barnel saws? They are by far the best darn thing I own. I’d like to know your opinion

  31. Digzinthedirt Northwest landscape design on November 8, 2021 at 12:53 pm

i am a professional gardener as well and i will not go to work without my corona comfort gel weeder you should definitely try it! i i would love to see what you think. I also prefer barnel pruning saw above all others I have tried, they cut like butter when new and even when 10 years old saw cleaner and faster than every other brand of new fresh out of packaging saw i have tried

  32. Stephanie Warren on November 8, 2021 at 12:53 pm

I literally just had a b**ch fit over the Fiskar pruners from HD, I’ve been using. I was reluctant to order the Felco pruners because of the price, but after my experience with the last set I bought, I’m done messing around. I couldn’t get through one pruning without them sticking after a few cuts. It will be a week before my Felcos arrive and I don’t know how I will manage, but I plan to take these Fiskars and toss them over a bridge somewhere! Well not really, but you get my frustration…LOL! ~signed "Jesus take the wheel with these things!" 🙂

Corona pruning saw lol 🪚 ROFL 🤣🤣😂 pandemic word

  34. Bell Boots on November 8, 2021 at 12:56 pm

The collapsible garden bag did NOT last beyond only six uses over about a year. Fell apart at multiple seams. It was a complete waste of money.

  35. sohail saeed on November 8, 2021 at 12:56 pm

I thought am only crazy to snip things on road.

  36. Dawn Johnson on November 8, 2021 at 12:57 pm

I can’t live without the stirrup hoe or loop hoe for weeding it’s amazing!

  37. Ginny Kerlin on November 8, 2021 at 12:58 pm

I use a transplanting spade to plant with, it is so much easier than planting with a shovel.

  38. Karon Crickmore on November 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm

Time to go shopping. What great tools Laura. 👍

  39. Succulent Garden Life on November 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm

💚💚💚 Thank you! great suggestions …👍👍👍👍

  40. Hailey on November 8, 2021 at 1:02 pm

Do you have any succulent watering videos? I have about five succulents who are all very healthy and happy; but I feel like I do not water properly. I feel like I do to little, too often. The soil always seems to be dry the next day unless I am being too literal with "wait until it’s dry". Please, anything helps.

  43. Vishali Betham on November 8, 2021 at 1:06 pm

“Corona” pruning saw hahha I’m watching this video during the pandemic and it’s a forbidden word. Just kidding. Great details BTW

  46. Cheryl Breedlove on November 8, 2021 at 1:09 pm

Love this video. Now I need to get me one of those bags and the pruning saw. My most used garden tool is my pruners. May have to get me some Felco’s.

  47. LoriLori Hallelujah on November 8, 2021 at 1:09 pm

Do you use a water meter? Do they work? How do use use them to figure out irrigation settings?

  48. M Schwab on November 8, 2021 at 1:13 pm

I have Felco hand trimmers, a little more expensive but definitely worth it in the long run.

  49. Chewning Witmer on November 8, 2021 at 1:14 pm

I think you can learn more about this on Woodglut.

  50. Sarah Ely on November 8, 2021 at 1:14 pm

If you’re not using gloves, do you have any tips on how to keep your nails clean, or how to really get them clean after gardening? I have tried dragging my nails over a bar of soap to create a barrier, but during the summer months, I have just accepted that my nails will be tinged dinginess. 😆
