3 Crops to Sow and Grow in April | Zone 5 Gardening | Guten Yardening
Early April is the perfect time here in zone 5 Wisconsin and in many other growing zones to begin directly sowing or transplanting some of your favorite cold hardy vegetables outdoors.
We are so excited to be able to move outdoors and take advantage of some of the seasonal weather to get three amazing, productive vegetables in the ground.
In this video we focus on how to plant spinach, peas, and radishes. All of these vegetables are cool weather crops that can be planted outdoors once the soil temperature reaches 40-45 degrees fahrenheit.
Each of these vegetables can handle frost, and are quick producers, so within just a little over a month you should be able to begin harvesting some of these amazing foods.
We have been very pleased with the results and variety of unique seeds we have purchased from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds, so we have chosen those seeds for the peas and the radishes we planted.
We are also using our seeding square for the planting here, and we think it is a great time saver and space saver. If you are interested in purchasing one, you can find the link here:

I like that square tool! How handy. I am in zone 4, and still dreaming. In a few weeks I will be doing the same thing.
I’m going to have to move my radishes into the shade – we’re already well above 70f down here! Luckily, they are on wheels.
Chock full of awesome information and ideas!!
Iād love to know where to purchase the green square foot planting tool!
I’ll be droping my pea and radish seeds this weekend. I have leftover compost from the fall from a load I got. I have a lot of work to get done in a short period of time. Your beds look great.

I received a seeding square as a gift before last year’s garden season. I love using it!
I have my radishes in and lettuce and onions, spinach and potatoes garlic and peas. I am having a problem with germination on the spinach and peas. They are direct sow. Have a great night :-):-):-)
