Planted Jalepeneos in full sun in Florida Summer as most videos said it likes a lot of sun but seems after transplant the plant is browning. I guess too much Sun. Same thing with Basil, most videos say it needs 6 to 8 hours of Sun but you are saying it need shades. I guess I gotta move it to partial shade area.

It’s the opposite for me concerning mint, zone 8. I have mint in my sunny herb garden that flourishes every year but the mint I put on the shady north side of my house barely grows. Also if you harvest your mint in the morning it has a better taste.
Thanks for the video I learned a lot πŸ˜ƒπŸ¦‹πŸ‘

Thank you for your input on the shade/no shade herbs n veggies. I am in Florida, where of course, it’s Always hot! This was very helpful to me. On your mulberry trees, this will sound odd, but has worked very well for me. I grew my own mango, avocado and carambola trees from seed with an abundance of fruits. To stimulate sugars action once mature, add epsom salts around base of tree, and also to stimulate provoking fruits,; hold a small piece of wood/board against the trunk (to protect) of tree while using a mallet to pound the wood around the trunk. This actually works …. Can’t hurt to try, I felt silly when I first did it, but was so shocked at the size of my avocados! And the sweetest Mango’s and starfruits! I love the mulberry, I have a dwarf tree, I make muffins, cakes, pies and jams with them…..πŸ₯°

Hi Jag, I am not talking about this video, I have watched your other video part 1 which is about protecting tomatoes, chillies etc. I have potted them in the pots but I DONT know how to protect them from frost. I CANT find part 2 of that video. I do have two cold greenhouses shall I keep them in the greenhouse? Thanks.

  48. Nestavan on January 19, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Great info. I’m going to vent…. I’m having a dump truck of topsoil delivered in 6 hours and my boyfriend(jist downsized housing and made him debt-free) could not be less supportive. I’m heartbroken because all of this is so exciting to me and now I’m doing it totally alone. Its like a shock to the system. I have a full sun yard and full shade yard and an area where I gotta build a tiny home to get my own space.

  49. Pierre Groussac on January 19, 2022 at 6:46 pm

I appreciate advice based on actual experimentation. I accidentally fell into the experimentation mode last year when volunteer big boys sprouted in an area that doesn’t get full sun. As you pointed out with the cherries, I got a yield, but not as much as from the sunny part of the garden. I have fantastic lettuce in my partially shaded garden, but there’s only so much lettuce we can eat. (Have you tried fried lettuce? We have…) Focusing this year on kales, swiss chards, collards and spinach, but still getting beaucoup lettuce volunteers. Anyway, thanks for the list. Will be adding cilantro, parsley and basil per your recommendation. Will also try perilla in partial shade since it’s related to mint. Then again, maybe I won’t. The rabbits don’t bother the perilla we planted along the fence line, and it doesn’t seem to be bothered by the clay soil. Hate to put it in the garden because, like chives, it can be hard to control.
