I just moved into a home where I’ll be able to start gardens from scratch, nothing is here right now. I sort of stumbled my way through gardening before and was semi-successful but was usually overwhelmed with weeds by mid summer and gave up on the garden until the next spring. I’m excited to have found your videos and have been binge-watching them and taking notes. One question I do have is this: if I will be putting a garden in where there is currently grass, do I need to dig up the grass first or can I just put down cardboard and layers to begin my no dig garden?

Thanks for watching! Wednesday’s video is all about clever tricks to spend less time watering in the vegetable garden🌿

  31. tarjei99 on February 21, 2022 at 11:26 pm

For seedlings, you can use any container that has been used for food. E.g. Youghurt cups, tinned food, egg cartons, one time cups, etc. You could probably bake them using flour and water.

More esoteric : drill holes in planks, beams or other woods. Hole should be at least 25mm wide. Planks can be laid on top of each other and secured with screws. If you want them to be dry underneath, use plastic or tin foil lenghtwise.

Huw, I’ve followed you for a very long time now and love your channel. However this episode had so much distracting hand movement in my face that I wanted to switch off many times. I stuck with it because it’s you, but… mate… that was really annoying. What happened? Did you recently read somewhere that you-tubers are more successful when they ‘do the hand thing?’ Mate, you were already cool. No need for all those hands waving about everywhere. Do you ever see Monty waving his hands around like a tit? Please Huw. You’re better than that.
