Thank you so much for your reply on the grasses. I love that you print all the names out for us on top of the flowers. You’re my favourite gardener on YouTube.

I was actually never a fan of the lime looking hydrangeas. The way you combined them with other plants has really inspired me to put some in my garden next year. Looks so beautiful.

  8. Cheryl Anderson on July 31, 2022 at 10:51 pm

This is a wonderful, overall pleasing design for anyone who passes by. I’m in love with this combination of that particular Bluestem, Sedum, Echinacea & all those Hydrangea! I am hoping to borrow some of your ideas in my yard which needs a total overhaul. I had the PeeGee Hydrangea many years ago, which I miss, & would highly recommend a few of those interspersed into this design if you can talk them into it. This would add some height in a few spots, if you think it would be worth the effort – not that it’s not perfect as it is. I like the soft airy walkway lined with grasses & Gaura very much too! I didn’t know it came in that color.

Re the "failure" with the Alyssum , they might need more moisture until they get established, but also, I see that a wood bark mulch has been used. Perhaps it is taking up nitrogen,& robbing the Alyssum, or, absorbing moisture the alyssum needs.

You might try removing the wood mulch around the Alyssum plants, feed them with a slow release fertilizer & have them give them more moisture until they get established. Then they’ll be spreading enough that no wood mulch there will be needed.

Oh & please tell me what those purple plants are, behind the Alyssum? Are they a type of Sedum?

Absolutely love what you did with those blue glazed planters too!

This garden is gorgeous! I love the color combinations. Also love the way you pan around slowly.

Finally a landscaper who enjoys planting native plants & grasses! I just discovered your channel and looking forward to more garden design ideas. I’m in zone 7.

Beautiful garden. Well done. I’m not buyin “overpopulation” being a problem in the world 🧐

  12. S.M. Elder on July 31, 2022 at 10:58 pm

I think this is the prettiest large garden I’ve ever seen. I would love to see it later in the Fall when the Asters are blooming and the hydrangea blooms are aging.

  13. Toni Rasmussen on July 31, 2022 at 11:00 pm

I’m curious, when you plant a species, how many plants do you plant together? For instance, would this be one echinacea, one sedum, one hydrangea, or are you planting 3 or 5 species together to get the lovely volume? thanks very much 🙏🌷

  14. cte 2021 on July 31, 2022 at 11:02 pm

I really like this plant combo! Will Vanilla Strawberry tolerate full sun in the South (Zone 7)?

  15. Toni Rasmussen on July 31, 2022 at 11:04 pm

This planting is my absolute favourite 😍, I have been ‘trying’ to replicate this theme in my garden, I dream of this garden 🥰, love it so much!!!!

    Just beautiful!

  19. Marla Schaefer on July 31, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Do you have a garden plan : placement of plants that you would share for this parking lot area? I wonder if the hydrangeas are at their closest spacings ( as with a hedge), in a straight line or not ( some higher and lower in the bed) and so on. I love this look and want to do something similar descending along a hillside fence-line which would only be view from the interior of the yard as opposed to from both sides, with the parking lot flower beds in this video. You’ve done such a beautiful job with this and want to see something like it all the time in my own backyard…

  20. Marilyn Haughton on July 31, 2022 at 11:08 pm

  26. Charmian Muller on July 31, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Are there no deer in this area..?

  27. Nadrien Markowski on July 31, 2022 at 11:15 pm

I found that alysums need some shade and then they spread; so for dry areas I put in succulent tiles-just separate and pop into soil.

  28. Lori Landwehr on July 31, 2022 at 11:15 pm

Bravo! …. the only flower that might beat the hydrangea is the rose. But hydrangea is much easier !

  33. AM Morales on July 31, 2022 at 11:21 pm

I knew this looked familiar! I live not to far from here 💗

  37. Nadrien Markowski on July 31, 2022 at 11:24 pm

I am going to implement your wonderful idea of planting the pennisetum and gaura on the sunny, dry side of my home. I have 4 gardens surrounding it and now can feel good about making it beautiful, along with the raspberry bushes that grown there. So thank you!

  38. Jeannette D'Souza on July 31, 2022 at 11:25 pm

    So beautiful flowers wow!

  42. Marilyn Haughton on July 31, 2022 at 11:29 pm

A question. Are the grasses Penisetum that are planted on their own the same as the one planted with the gaura. Only it looks different on its own, not as delicate. Oops I see this was a year ago. I’m always late to the party me. Thanks in case you can answer. Love it all.

Fantastic! I have a troublesome spot near a telephone pole, I think I’ll just copy your plan near the pole and its guide wire and then put some evergreens and taller grasses past them. My brain is still very new to gardening and I do want to get something going up there next to the street this coming year. Problem solved!
